Here's a case where it sucks to be us: despite the commentary track that was recorded with director John Carpenter and star Roddy Piper, Universal has apparently decided not to include it on their October release of They Live. You can confirm this by checking out the menus for this disc here. The commentary track, along with a short featurette, are available on the Momentum Pictures DVD released in the UK last year. Similarly, Momentum's UK release of Prince of Darkness has a solo commentary from Carpenter, and I fear that this track also won't be available here in the States.

I just can't understand that. You have a commentary track and featurette already done and you choose NOT to put them on?!? Man I swear sometimes it's like these companies just like to see fans get pissed off. Either that or we'll get the extras on They Live: Special Limited Collector's Super Duper Edition.

Man... Fuck That Shit. I'm buying both of them now from Amazon.co.uk!

What about Starman? Isn't there also a commentary on that one, too?

I waited so long for the re-release of They Live! here in the states, too... for the commentary! Almost sounds as fun as having Kurt Russell and Carpenter together! Hell, AS fun as that!

Sweet!!

For once R1 didn't get dumped on. R2 gets:

better extras
more releases
smaller releases
quicker releases

I wouldn't be surprised to hear the announcement of the super ed. of Showgirls, complet with a free night with a hooker (something has to compentsate for the movie).

It sucks they left off the com.. They should make all versions equal, but that would be too hard for them.
