Arnie held out on top for a second week this week. Despite declining 58%, the action outing T3 brought in $3,102,700 to take its 2 week total to $12,334,836. Surprisingly it was the only movie to take in over a million dollars with the rest of the chart players dropping significantly. CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE dipped 48% with $912,309, to take its 3 week total to $16,893,750. The Aussie crime comedy BAD EGGS was the highest new enntry of the week at #3 with $645,611. BRUCE ALMIGHTY and DADDY DAY CARE, two of the biggies for the last few weeks, dropped considerably. Jim Carrey's comedy, down 49%, has totalled $19,329,384, whilst Eddie Murphy's family friendly flick, dropping a whopping 70%, has taken in $14,025,480. CONFIDENCE, CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND and MALIBU'S MOST WANTED followed each other at #6, #7 and #8 taking in $368,473, $339,335 and $176,300 respectively. Ang Lee's take on THE HULK dropped again this week, 62%, with $162,800. After 5 weeks the angry green machine has $9,420,528. Another film feeling the decrease this weekend was LIZZIE McGUIRE. It declined 73%, with $4,784,747 after 9 weeks. Laurence Fishburne's bike actioner BIKER BOYZ debuted at #11, suffering next to nothing in publicity, with $149,933. The mocumentary A MIGHTY WIND was the lowest new entry of the week at #13, up 3 from its preview screenings, with $129,798, combined with its advance screening total it has $203,308. The animated adventures of SINBAD dropped 9 places and 81% with $95,374. Brad, Catherine and Michelle have totalled $4,175,383 after 4 weeks. Nick Nolte dropped this week in THE GOOD THIEF, which has only made $213,799 after 2 weeks, whilst John Malkovich's directorial debut THE DANCER UPSTAIRS has accumulated $595,338 after 4 weeks.

THIS WEEK (July 31st): Australian cinemas receive a double does of the horror genre this week with the A-List psychological chills of I D E N T I T Y, featuring John Cusack, Amanda Peet and Ray Liotta, and the 80's style cannibalistic mountain men terror of W RO NG TUR N starring Buffy hottie Eliza Dushku. Also on hand is the appaulingly titled, and even worse looking, Australian made comedy DANNY DECKCHAIR starring Rys Ifans (Notting Hill) and Miranda Otto (The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers), Gwyneth Paltrow's high flying comedy A VIEW FROM THE TOP and the adrenaline flop EXTREME OPS starring Devon Sawa and Rufus Sewell, who deserve better.

T3 may have have another week at number 1 this week. IDENTITY hasn't been recieving as much publicity as I expected, but it has been getting a lot more lately. Films of its type generally do well and it could be next week's #1 but I expect a Top 5 debut more. Horror films generally do well for themselves on the Australian charts so I expectWRONG TURN to go Top 10, maybe Top 5. No doubt Eliza Dushku will be a draw also. DANNY DECKCHAIR has been receiving much more publicity than I would expect, so I think a Top 10 debut is in place, but the movie looks like crap si it won't go well overall I think, and as for A VIEW FROM THE TOP, most likely somewhere in the top 10. And EXTREME OPS is just getting dropped in cinemas with very little publicity, and the fact the film is bad, form what I understand, it isn't likely to last long on the charts, or in cinemas.

Impressive report FilmBuff. I wasn't surprised to see T3 declining 58% after its big debut and I think (and I'm trying through your reports to make a general understanding of how Australian boxoffice goes) that it's doing pretty well for itself. But there's a question: what about its rating? Is it R-Rated or it's got a lower rating out there?

For next weeks movies I'm most excited to see how Identity will perform. It was such an awsome thriller and it deserves a top-spot opening but I see it doesn't stand much of a chance.

Extreme Ops was one of the films I thought weren't as bad as people made it sound (still not very good: 5/10) and compared to most of the trashy sequels of this summer I'm hoping it would find a place in the top 20.

I hope Wrong Turn does really good there. It was great 9/10 or A- or ***1/2... I hope Identity doesn't do very good. 7/10 or B- or **

Identity should be a bigger attraction: John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet and Alfred Molina are way bigger names than Eliza Dushku. I guess it's going to do better.

Yeah T3 is doing pretty well for itself. The film is rated M15+ over here, which means it is recommended for persons over the age of 15 years. But kids that are a little younger (13, 14) can still see it on their own and if they are a bit younger than that they can get in with a parent no problems. Hulk, Charlie's Angels 2 and Bruce Almighty were all M too, so that rating doesn't limit audiences much.

I'm starting to have second doubts about Wrong Turn going really well on the charts. As i've found out, it isn't playing in as many cinemas as I thought. But like i've said before, films like 25th Hour and Secretary had screen counts of like 15/16 and made the Top 10, so there may be a chance for it. I loved the film and i'm hoping it'll at least get a top 10 placing. I'm expecting Identity to go better, and most likely snag a top 5 spot.
