You know what I'm talking about...

Those fine films that don't really rely on deep thinking or a complex nature. You can just sit back, watch itand laugh your ass off. It can put a smile on your face and you soon realize this movie really has no point, story or moral at all, yet it's still great and incredibly enjoyable... and always fun to quote, rewatch or pop in when you're bored.

I gotta go with one of my favorite comedies and a damn classic in my eyes, The Big Lebowski... does it have a point? Is there a story there? Do we even care about the story? Are we suppose to care?! I have no idea, all I know is it never ceases to make me laugh my ass off with it's off-the-wall characters, insanely funny dialogue and quirky, totally unrealistic, yet also entertaining storyline...

God bless them Coens! God bless da Jesus! God bless the pudgy John Goodman and his awesome performance! God bless the Dude! God bless Donny for letting Walter tell him to "Shut the fuck up" in just about every scene! God bless those whacked out dream sequences! God bless Tara Reid for being in a great movie! I knew you could do it girl!

Whew... ok, I'm off on a tangent and I just realized this is like the first topic I've made in months... jeez, anyway, um... yeah, can you think of any other movies like that?!

I think Clerks is the best movie with no point. There's not even really a story.

Technically, you could say that 9 out of 10 comedies don't have a point. Most exist solely to entertain. That being said, There's Something About Mary cracks me up and it is one of the stupidest most pointless movie I've ever seen.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Take a bunch of drugs, search for the American Dream in Las Vegas, yadda yadda, sure there's semblances of a plot, but this is Hunter S. Thompson. He just does what he does, and that's that. And I love it.

Yep. There's hardly any point in There's Something About Mary (8/10), and yet I still love it, I burst into laughing whenever I watch this comedy, it's just so hilarious. :D

As soon as I saw this topic The Big Lebowski popped into my head. This is a film where the story is secondary to the characters, and I love it. The plot itself doesn't matter, it's the characters and their personality that does. Even the narrator, the great Sam Elliott, admits as much. The quirky and cool characters along with the countless great quotes keeps us so entertained we don't even care what's going on with the plot.

"The Dude abides."
