Oh my...self-control, people!

From SFGate.com's Daily Dish (http://sfgate.com/columnists/dailydish) :

ORLANDO BLOOM TOO DRUNK TO GREET CARIBBEAN PRIME MINISTER

Orlando Bloom only has hazy memories of the time he met a Caribbean Prime Minister -- because he was so drunk.

Orlando flew with his "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" co-star Johnny Depp and the movie's producer Jerry Bruckheimer to meet St Vincent's Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, but the hard-drinking stars ended up disgracing themselves infront of the politician.

The British star laughs, "Jerry was up at the front of the plane with his wife, and me and Johnny and Johnny's friend Sam were at the back of the plane and we sat there and drank red wine.

"I don't know, maybe the altitude had something to do with it, but when we got to the island we just, like, crawled off the plane, staggering."

He continues, "The Prime Minister was there to meet us and he goes, 'Hey man, very pleased to introduce you to St. Vincent.' Johnny's friend crawled past him, didn't even stop, Johnny gave him a huge hug and kept kissing him.

"And there's me trailing after Johnny picking up all the stuff he kept dropping. It was crazy."

hey, i see nothing wrong with this!

(this is also coming from someone who got so drunk she literally fell over a singer she's been worshipping since she was 16 at one of his shows)

I see Orlando Bloom as being a complete light weight. I bet that Mr Fear and Loathing drank his ass under the table:cool:

Oh come on that's nothing. Remember the time boris yeltsin was on a state visit from russia to ireland and the irish pm and his staff gathered at dublin airport only to be told boris was too drunk to get off the plane? Now that was embarrassing!

See, I've met Johnny personally, and know that this is exactly the sort of thing he'd do.

Maybe he's an alcoholic, and can't control his drinking.

Or maybe he's just an asshole, who doesn't care about anybody.

Well OK. I have to say I believe that nobody is perfect, and as such, an actor's personal life is his own IMO. I only care if the movie is good or not- well unless it is an extreme example of bad behaviour (ie. Roman "drugged and raped a13 year old" Polanski)

This is more Colin Farrel behavior than Orlando Bloom behavior. Depp, don't know him personally like Grebdron seems to, so I'm not too surprised at their actions. Figures

Well I would point out that here in the uk/ireland the drinking culture is a lot different to the usa. Here if you can't finish 10 beers in one sitting, you may as well be wearing a dress and have "I am a homosexual" tattooed on yer forehead. Therefore men on the whole here tend to drink more than is good for 'em. It's true. On a uk chat show a couple of months ago colin farrell said an american friend of his wanted him to go to AA after seeing him drinking 15 shots of vodka in 1 sitting. Farrell just laughed at him.

I guessing you've never been to Scotland quoth? :D

Well OK maybe I'm exaggerating a little :) But there is still something a little strange about the drinking culture here. When the bush twins in the usa get caught trying to buy booze underage it's a big scandal there, where as here when euan blair is arrested for being unconscious face down on the pavement we all laugh at him and then say "oh well never mind son we've all been there" This is not really helping us keep a healthy lifestyle ;)
