From Bloody Disgusting:
Robert Englunds project with Gunner Hansen and Kane Hodder is now moving forward and is called The Last Horror Picture Show. Read on for the complete details...
Fangoria found out all the details that Robert left out, "You read that right?scream kings Robert Englund, Kane Hodder and Gunnar Hansen are appearing together in a film for the first time. The project is called THE LAST HORROR PICTURE SHOW, to be directed by Gary (SPIDERS) Jones from a script he wrote with Hansen."
"Producer Jeff Miller explains the plot to Fango: "Basically, a group of college students are out to see the locations where their favorite horror movie, THE BARBECUE MASSACRE, was filmed, and they stumble across a family of real killers, whom the movie and its sequels were actually based on. Terrible and horrific things start to happen to the kids at that point. We?re talking to a couple of other genre film people at this point, but no one else has been signed."
"Although the terror trio?s characters are all-new, there will be "inside digs" at the roles that made them famous. The movie, described by Jones as "a twisted ?70s horror film turned inside out," will roll in Los Angeles this fall for a mid-2004 release."
Can't wait!!!

I'm digging this "retro-horror" trend. The only downfall to this recent surge of "throwback" genre films is that we aren't getting anything original out of the deal, but at least we're getting solid entertainment. It would be cool if The Last Horror Picture Show was granted a reasonably wide theatrical run, but as much as I hate to say it, Gunnar Hansen is a straight-to-video horror celeb. His acting chops aren't exactly refined either. But I'll keep my hopes up. Perhaps they can drag Tony Todd into the fold.

oh i'm liking this idea. I mean, you take three horror movie legends, put them together, make references to the respective killers they all played, and put it in a semi-original movie premise. Sounds like a popcorn movie full of fun and horror to me! I can't wait!

The story sounds awfully similar to "House Of 1000 Corpses".
But hey, if the movie`s good who cares? I too am happy about this "70`s-throwback" thang going on. Sure beats the "Scream-wannabes".

This sounds interesting, but damn, this idea of "kids stumble on real family killers" is so burnt out.

Thank God it's Gunner Hansen!
At first I thought you were gonna be talking about Hansen. You know... "Mmmbop!"
Phew! That was a close call!
Well anyways... this mght be a fun movie. And it could also suck, too. But at least it will be neat to see them all together!

Not in costume, but it will be nice to see Englund and Hodder on film together.

Yes, and House Of 1000 Corpses sounded awfully similar to Texas Chainsaw Massacre. :D
I for one think this film'll be top class. Sure, we've had a lot of "teens get stranded and find weird family in house" films, but if we're gonna have another one, we might as well have Gunnar in it! And how weirder can you get than Freddy, Jason and Leatherface? They're not exactly the cast of Diff'rent Strokes!

I thought I heard somewhere that Robert Englund stated this movie as being a comedy/horror of sorts. Makes sense with the plot and all.

The title sounds similar to a kick ass 80's flick called The Last Horror Film (a.k.a. The Fanatic). The movie is totally different and star Joe Spinell and Caroline Munro. It takes place at the Cannes Film Festival. It is a kick ass movie. The plot is a little like Scream 3 or Cut, but it came years before it.
Anyway, the movie sounds kick ass. This is the decade for horror I think. We get great horrors like May, House of 1,00 Corpses, Worng Turn, 28 Days Later etc.I havent seen a very bad horror flick all year except for Darkness Falls(So fuckin boring and no gore at all).

Yup, I think its on the humorous side...here's a piece of an interview with Robert Englund from Bloody Disgusting...
I’m actually considering a project by the original Leatherface, Gunner Hanson. It would involve Kane Hodder and myself working together. It’s a great kind of Blair Witch spin on the origins of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It’s a very funny script and Id have an opportunity to work with Kane there!

I like this idea, but I wouldn`t say there have been nothing original these days. How about The Others, The Signs, The Sixth Sense, well The Ring isn`t actually original, but the movie it`s based on was made 1998, so that is quite original in my book.

I read about the Englund, Hanson and Hodder on the Fangoria site. It sounds like a kewl idea and I'd definately be interested in going to see this. :)

same here, it doesn't seem like its going to be too bad, and if its too bad, its gonna be the kind of bad us schmoes love to see. It sounds a lot like HO1kC yes, but how many people would rather see that than some of the other crap hollywood has released as of late(They, Darkness Falls) I know I would!

I am all in favor of this. Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface doing a 70's style "Blair Witch spin on the origins of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?" How could you not LOVE that idea....its almost something you wold make up in your head, not acually see get done...very cool.
and I agree, get Tony Todd in there somehow.
