FREDDIE PRINZE JR. TURNS SCRIPTWRITER

"Scooby-Doo" star Freddie Prinze Jr. is branching out into script writing after signing a deal with MTV to develop and co-write a teen movie comedy.

The hunky actor -- who is married to former "Buffy" beauty Sarah Michelle Gellar -- will join forces with fellow scribe Conrad Jackson to work on the TV movie based around a prom.

Prinze Jr. enthuses, "Conrad and I are excited and determined to create unique projects for MTV."

MTV executive Lois Curren adds, "We are very excited to have Freddie and Conrad on board to develop this movie. MTV has always been about attracting top-notch talent and aligning them with great projects, and we're confident that this partnership will be a wonderful and creative match."

Great.

Movies are coming to an end, folks. I can smell it.

At least it isn't stinking up the multiplex.
