View Full Version : Le DIVORCE
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005JMCC.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
Plot: "In this modern-day comedy of manners, American sisters Isabel (Kate Hudson) and Roxy (Naomi Watts) come face to face with the complicated social mores of French society. Pregnant and jilted by her scoundrel husband, Roxy is headed for LE DIVORCE, while Isabel leaps into l’amour with a married French diplomat who happens to be the uncle of Roxy’s soon-to-be-ex. Culture clash and scandal ensue as the sisters learn what it really takes to be an American in Paris.
MPAA: "PG-13" for mature thematic elements and sexual content.
I saw the trailer on the DVD for Just Married, and I think it looks like a pretty good "light" movie. I had wanted to see it even before seeing the trailer though, since it stars the lovely Naomi Watts and Kate Hudson. Those two alone are reason enough for me to see it.
If this ever comes to a theater around here and I have the chance to check it out, I'll definitely try. Otherwise I will see it for sure on video.
---I really like the one "teaser" poster for its originality. But I can't help but prefer the unoriginal one. I saw this giant poster of these two beautiful blonde actresses hanging up in the movie theater lobby, and I couldn't help but be mesmerized by it. The poster is very generic, but these two just look GREAT together. Of course, they look GREAT apart too. I just really really dig that poster. I can't stop looking at it. I can't get over it. If I see it hanging up at the theater, I can't help but stare at it. Watts and Hudson have a power over me. Jesus are they gorgeous! It's hypnotic...

Looks good, but not so great. I love Naomi and Kate so I'll definitely see it.

The only thing in "Le Divorce" that appeals to me is it's two lead actresses, Kate Hudson and especially Naomi Watts. However, the premise doesn't interest me in the slightest. I don't know if I'll be seeing this in the theaters, but I'll definitely give it a look once it hits the video shelves.

Merhcant and Ivory, Naomi Watts, and Kate Hudson? I have no doubt that Le Divorce will be a very engaging and fun romantic comedy. It is probably not an excellent, Oscar-worthy film, but it looks very solid.

I'm not interested in this one at all... I do have one question though, does this movie have subtitles? They showed a short clip on E! the other day and I saw subtitles....

The films lists English & French as it's languages, so I assume the answer is "yes."

I'm looking forward to it. And I don't know what else to say besides that. Maybe because it features both Naomi Watts and Kate Hudson, who I like.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Sorry, it just doesn't sound all that interesting to me. But who knows? The premise just sounds really...contrived or something. And Kate Hudson can be either really annoying or really good...we'll see.

I don't like Kate Hudson OR Naiomi Watts as actresses. Sure they're hot as hell but this movie looks pretty bad. Plus, I don't think the french aspect will do it for some people.

Suprising even myself, I plan to see this. I think it looks fun, Hudson looks like she's having a blast in it, and it just seems like it could be enjoyable. Did I just write that? Oh God, what have I become......:p

Yup. Those two are the only reason I'm interested. Both are beautiful, talented actresses.

Definitely! Without them, I don't know if I'd even want to see it.

The movie looks pretty bad, and I can't fucking stand Kate Hudson. She was a one role hit wonder (Almost Famous) thus far, so if I'd ever see it, it'd be for Naomi Watts, which I won't see it for

I dunno if I'll see this baby in theaters. Kate Hudson was so damn cute in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and Niaomi Watts was awesome in The Ring and The Shaft. This has the star power to become a hit. If it expands I can see it doing The Wedding Planner type buisness. But if it doesn't expand, I dunno how much it will make. I doubt I'd see this in theaters if it wasn't for the awesome cast.

The only reason that I'd see this in theatres is because of the two leads but it's likely that it won't come to a theatre near me since it's partially subtitled and doesn't have a wide appeal if it wasn't for the cast.

the ONLY reason i'd see this movie is for the beautiful naomi. but if she wasn't in it, i'd be comparing this movie to gigli.
and what exactly does it have in common with Gigli?

Saw it on saturday, loved kate hudson and she is great, the movie has some great lines as well and has a very funny supporting cast. The only thing i really didn't like about it was it didn't know what it wanted to be in the end
MINOR MINOR SPOILER!
when the subject of a crazy guy with a gun, yes a crazy dude with a gun comes into play in this romantic dramedy.
END OF MINOR MINOR SPOILER
Is that a word? Anyway it was nice, but nothing special.
2 stars and 1/2.

Yeah, no problem. I wasn't really sure if it was a spoiler or not since I haven't seen it yet, and just figured it was. :)
This is from Box Office Guru:
Back in the fictional world, Fox Searchlight launched the ensemble comedy Le Divorce in ten cities with a promising average of $15,201. Collecting $516,834 from 34 theaters, the PG-13 film attracted largely adult women and widens into sixteen additional markets this Friday. The distributor will continue to roll the picture out reaching 400-500 runs on Aug 22 and about 800 sites nationwide over Labor Day weekend.
Since it plans to widen, I think it could end its run with around 14-15 Million, depending on how well mainstream audiences react to it. I doubt it will make any more than 14-15 Million. It will be at its strongest when it's in fewer theaters.
The theater I usually go to, which is an hour away, actually got this movie last weekend. But I think I will probably just wait and see it on video. I have too much on my plate right now as it is, and this just isn't at the top of my list of movies I need to see.
