From Joblo.com...
"It" horror director of the moment, Eli Roth, has been tapped to direct a remake of the 1972 zombie flick DEAD OF NIGHT for Workshed Entertainment. The original film, which was released under the title DEATHDREAM, was directed by Bob Clark (PORKY'S 1 & 2), and was about a young man killed in the Vietnam War. Through a series of circumstances, he is brought back to life as a zombie. When he returns home to his small town, his friends and family assume that he is shell-shocked from the war and are unaware that he is a creature with a murderous lust for blood.
Deathdream is the only one of Bob Clark's horror outings that I've yet to see. If there's one thing that I appreciate about remakes, it's that the original recaptures a bit of the limelight, if only for a fleeting moment. Hopefully, Clark's version will see a DVD release to coincide with Roth's version.
