Like the title of the thread says, who in your opinion makes the best (and worst) DVDs. What I mean by best/worst, I mean collectively the video, the sound, the extras, the quality of these aspects, the amount of loyalty to those die-hard fans of the movies and even the cases in some instances. For me, (if you have read my previous posts, you would know) the worst company at making DVDs has got to be Paramount. Sure, Paramount puts out some good transfers. The sound on these disks are usually good too. But when it comes to extras, Paramount screws over not only the buyer but also the fans of the movies. Sure, the supplements may be numerous in some cases, but the quality is shite. Take a look at Paramount's job on The Godfather Trilogy. The supplements on the disks are good, but could have been cleaned up and had those stupid 'Property of Paramount' logos removed off of the Part 3 film supplements. And guys, subtitles and chapter stops are NOT special features. Jeez, you think that for a company that makes Star Trek movies they'd at least have the brains to make a good DVD. But no, they just screw people out of their money with so-so to good transfers and next to no extras. Oh, a trailer, that's good, but oh, there's some stock footage of deleted and alternate scenes. Oh, people don't want that. Let's keep it in storage anyways and not put it out until people complain enough times. Jeez. That felt good to write that. Now I'm too tired to write who I feel is the best at doing DVDs. I'll to that after I see some responses.

Warner, MGM and Paramount suck at DVDs. They rarely have good extras, the transfers are either mediocre or decent, and The Horrible Snapper Case Of Wanker Bros. and Early Metro Goldyn Moron DVDs makes me barf.

Best
Achor Bay-As a horror fan I thank the movie gods for Achor Bay because they take great horror films like Suspiria,Evil Dead series for example and give them the treatment they diserve DVDs loaded with great extras can't wait for there 2disc "The Hills Have Eyes" and 25th anniversery "Halloween" sets
New Line

So,So
MGM-Most of there DVDs are just so so a good transfer but lacking features but their James Bond007 series DVDs are some of the best on the market.
20th Century Fox
DreamWorks

Worst
Paramount-Most of there DVDs have very little in the way extras, the widscreen tranfers are so so and despite this their DVDs are generally realy spendy for an example the
Friday the 13th films DVDs are almost all just the film and trailer yet their average price $24.00 I mean even Titanic the #1 Grossing film of all-time is just the movie and trailer yet its $20.00 I mean if its just the movie and trailer it shouldn't cost $10.00 Bucks more than a VHS IMO and this studio has some great flicks that diserve to get greats DVDs but sadly don't.

Criterion makes the best DVDs, no doubt about it. The only problem is they're usually like $40, but once you see the transfer (probably the best picture you'll get from any DVD company, even over Superbit) and all those tons of greats features they put on them, you know where your money went. The Criterion Collection DVDs are generally for hardcore fans of the movie only, and that's what makes them the best.

A runner-up for best DVD company would be New Line's Platinum Series DVDs.

The worst has got to be Paramount. The transfers are decent enough, sometimes even good, but where are the special features, guys?

MGM is the second-worst, in my opinion.

Warner Bros. has made a lot of bad DVDs too, but their 2-disc special editions are phenomenal. Look at the Amadeus, Citizen Kane, and upcoming Casablanca special editions. My theory is that WB can make a great DVD when they want to...but unfortunately, they give most of their titles the lazy treatment, especially Kubrick's movies, which deserve much better than that.

The worst company in my book is Artisan. Most of their releases are foolscreen.
