time to Boycott Blockbuster

Some interesting news has come out of the VSDA show in Vegas. On Wednesday a "DVD Content and the Market" round table was held featuring DVD producers Van Ling (Star Wars, T2), David Naylor (The X-Files, Buffy), David Prior (Fight Club, Pearl Harbor) and Charles de Lauzirika (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down). One of the main points of discussion was the area menu design, with the general consensus being that easy navigation and functionality remain the key to good menus. In the midst of the discussion, Prior, who is currently finishing up work on Columbia's Panic Room two-disc special edition, said that the Blockbuster chain has apparently demanded that menu pages on the multi-disc set shouldn't point to bonus features that are on the disc. That way, Prior suspects, Blockbuster has the option of renting each disc separately. If this is indeed the case, the panel speculated that Blockbuster may begin demands such as this on a title-by-title basis. (thanks to Troy for the news)

i never rent from Blockbuster, i go to Hollywood Video. But the fact that they want to start renting out 2 disk sets 1 disk by 1 disk is so GAY. All they care about is $$ not their customers, fucking COCKSUCKERS. First all they rent are Full Frame versions of the movies if they can. Blockbuster just sucks so much ass, they need to be shut down, and Hollywood needs to reign control.!

There's no need to make snide comments; he's not saying Blockbuster sucks just for the sake of saying it. He's giving a definite example. If Blockbuster does this, then I will never darken their doorway again (not like I go there much now, anyway...)

Yes, but there are already more than enough reasons to prove that Cockbuster suck. It's like defecating on a rotting pile of garbage so it can stink more: it already stinks to high hell, that's just adding more stink-a-tude to it.

People still go to blockbuster? I use the new Walmart DVD rentals dead...pretty slick. A little cheaper than netflix but not sure they have quite the library netflix does...yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Netflix already rent two-DVD sets separately? I remember renting Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and only the movie being sent.

i never use Blockbuster, and this is another good reason not to. The last time i went into blockbuster, was when the clerks didn't give a shit about any of the customers, had no idea what good movies were out, and had the still gay 2 day rental thing.

Since then i've always gone to Hollywood.

I've boycotted them since the day i was born :D

(except for one time when i bought The Pianist from them...they accidentally wrote the wrong price on the dvd, so i decided i'd do a little ripping off of blockbuster :)

I have been boycotting BALLBUSTER ever since I had the ability to rent movies, I only have gone once there to get a movie my local privately owned videostore didn't have (And now my local videostore has you submit a movie title if they don't have it already and in a couple of days they usually have it there in the shelves. I no longer have to enter a BALLBUSTER ever again). At my local videostore it's 50 cents for a catalogue VHS movie, $1.00 for a catalogue DVD movie, and $2.50 for any New Releases whether it be DVD or VHS. At BALLBUSTER I HAVE to rent a catalogue VHS or DVD movie for 5 days for 3 dollars when I want the movie for 1 day, I have no idea what what New Releases cost there but you can basically base it off the catalogue price.

i had no idea that the Full Frame thing was ending, as i do not ever enter a blockbuster. Sorry

When i say Gay and Cocksucker, i mean it that what they are doing is not right, that is just my expression. It has no meaning towards people that are in fact Gay! but since it bothered you, i will try to be more PC in my postings! Sorry dude
