I recently read an article at comingsoon.net that was an interview from Moviehole.net with makeup and F/X guru
Stan Winston about upcoming projects one of which mentioned is a possable Wrong Turn sequel. Being that I enjoyed the first one very much,I hope that this does come to fruition.

What are your thoughts?

They definitely left it WIDE open for one with the original. I dug the first one and would not be at all opposed to the idea about a sequel. Plus, Stan Winston is the MAN (way under-appreciated IMO).

I felt it should be left alone at the first. Don't want a good thing to be spoiled.

I say live it alone.

Hmmm, the first film was great, and id say leave it on its own...

but a sequel would be good if it was like the original and went into the cannibals a bit more

I pretty much agree with everyone else. I loved the first one, but i would be open for a sequel on one condition- they DON'T bring back Eliza or Desmond and start with a new cast.

Even though Eliza was a big reason i liked the first one, bringing old characters back for more sequels either means one of two different things.

1. They play Heroine again (e.g. Sydney in Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 3), in which case the film becomes just a repeat of the first.

or 2. They bring back popular characters- only to kill them off....i.e. Randy in Scream 2 or Laurie in Halloween:Resurrection.

If they make a sequel i'd rather not have it be a repeat of the first one or an excuse to kill old characters off.

END SPOILERS

My first thought was that the sequel should feature a family (parents, plus a few kids, maybe a couple of friends or a girlfriend/boyfriend) but then it would be too much like The Hills Have Eyes.

What about a married couple and their two close friends driving back from the couple's shotgun wedding. A blood splattered bride running through the woods sounds kinda cool.

I would love a sequel but it would have to have a decent director and a decent bunch of producers.

I don't see how making a sequel would ruin the original. Every horror franchise has sequels that don't quite live up to the originals but that doesn't make the original a bad movie. I for one love sequels. I like to know that the story isn't over. buh bye!

I hated the cannibals in the first movie...almost reminded me of orcs in Lord of the Rings...

A sequel sounds good - just stay away from the incomprehensible orc-like cannibal thing.

Even though I'm not crazy about a sequel, I like some people's idea. Like a station wagon full of a family stumble into the house. Since the first movie was VERY gutsy IMO, think of the possiblilites they could do with that..

Type- Ugh, can you please post spoiler warnings. Thanks.

Oh and I don't think a sequal works for Wrong Turn. Please no more sequals, i've had enough of them for awhile.

While Im not against this in the long run usually sequels so soon after the original are doomed to failure. People wstill have the first fresh in their minds and cannot gt hte same effect - and also they seem to get more courage in the movie - to Hollywood this means they think they can take shortcuts, less of a script, add a little comedy, less violence and gore, etc.

Why, oh why does there have to be a sequel to every half decent horror movie?? (and plenty of downright crappy ones too - stand up Children of the Corn, I'm talking to you! :) )

Wrong Turn was a great stand alone horror flick, and doesn't need a sequel, just like Cube didn't and Jeepers Creepers didn't and Jaws didn't etc........ you get the picture!

Sometimes it's best to leave the audience wanting more - after all, {*SPOILERS*} we found out very little about who the mountain men were, what their history was, even what there names were, and that for me made them all the more creepy {*END SPOILERS*}. :)

Much as I am a fan of the Halloween and NOES series (and to a lesser degree the F13 movies), I doubt there are any of us who can say, hand on heart, that any of the sequels have improved on, or even been as good as, the originals........ (Wes Craven's New Nightmare may be the exception that proves the rule here, but it still wasn't as scary as when I first saw the original NOES :) )

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a good (or occasionally crappy - like my beloved Halloween series are so fond of churning out ;) ) sequel, I just wish it didn't seem like every movie was automatically slated for a sequel the minute it made back its' budget! I realise that it's all about making a buck for thestudios, but it'd be nice to think that they invested more in making new movies (like Wrong Turn and the original Jeepers Creepers), rather than automatically churning out a sequel.

:D

Oops......sorry DVD Collector and anyone else who might of had the film spoiled by my original post- i hadn't even realised at the time i was spoiling the movie (otherwise i would have put up spoiler warnings earlier). But i guess if you haven't seen the film. discussing who survives would ruin it. I wrongly assumed that anyone who posted on the topic of a sequel would have seen the original, but clearly that's not the case. Again sorry- won't happen again.

Back on topic, i'm somebody who doesn't mind countless sequels providing they bring something FRESH to the series without ruining the elements which made the original great in the first place (The change from Freddy Krueger as a menacing figure to the bad stand up comedian he became in Freddy's Dead springs to mind. I like he's wise-cracking providing it doesn't take away what he is- a violent, crazy, evil murderer).

I don't think there's anything in Wrong Turn which needs to be explored again.........the killers included.

maybe if we all buy a crap load of wrong turn movies, then the people will be like "wrong turn is now the #1 movie worldwide, we have to make a sequel" or something like "wrong turn made a right turn and is now the #1 selling movie ever"

yea, sequel prolly wont happen for a long time

If it does reasonably good on video/DVD (and I think it will), I wouldn`t be surprised to see a sequel fairly soon.

I dont think this one needs a sequel. There's just some movies that dont need them, if it was left alone I think it would be more famous, cult wise. But if it has a sequel its just gonna bring down the first one. Jeepers Creepers doesnt need one either. Neither does May, if it is ever an issue I mean.

It doesn't need one, but with the majority of horrorfilms that come out of hollywood being crappy it's hard for me to not WANT a sequel.

*******SPOILERS********

I would script it more along a reporter or writer who's researching unsolved murders stumble on the newspaper reports that were in the opening credits, kind of a Kalifornia vibe

I just saw this movie at the cinema today (it came out about a week ago in Australia - with absolutely no publicity, while that Gwyneth Paltrow air hostess flop got heaps of promotion, but I digress) and I LOVED it. People weren't lying when they said it was kinda reminiscent of 70s horror flicks. I'm a sucker for sequels, so I certainly wouldn't mind one. Those suggestions about families/reporters stumbling across the cannibals certainly sound cool to me. Bring it on.

Although, horror movies with cute little kids and puppies can sometimes be troublesome....

I say bring it on lets see what else these backwoods cannibals got.Saw tooth 3 finger and One eye have a lot to offer and i say lets see it. Rob and Stan did a awesome job on this movie and i think they have more to offer. I aint got goose bumps watching a movie in a long time and this one did it ...and scared the shit out of me at that. its in the horror blood for the sequal, bc "lets face it baby these days you got to have a sequal".....R.I.P

if they do a sequel hopefully it will be just as gory if not more gory than the original. also a dash of nudity wouldn't hurt one bit.
i liked the original and if they do a sequel with the right cast and crew it could be good.

OMG, that would be a GREAT idea for a sequel to WRONG TURN! Although I'm kinda iffy about a sequel, that's the most logical turn for a second installment. Maybe the reporter could investigate the house with a friend or two and maybe a cameraman or something (for the typical fodder), but other miscellaneous characters could get killed throughout the movie (further propelling the story by having the reporter notice more murders are still happening in the same area). I dunno, I'm just thinking in type...

It never made any of its budget back because it never had any decent advertising. It has already disappeared from the cinemas here after only being out a couple of weeks (two I think) and no one even heard about it.

I have friends now who are hearing me rave about it and are spewing that they missed it. It could have made a truckload more cash and its really quite a shame that nobody had any faith in it. It was something really unconventional...maybe thats why.

"lets face it baby these days you got to have a sequel".....Where is that from? Oh never mind I remember now! :D

yeah i personally havent even seen the film yet and still firmly believe that if they would have advertised it alot more and better and well, that it would opened alot better....in the week before release, i saw maybe 10 tv spots tops, which isn't good, considering Philadelphia is a pretty big and major place.

they left the movie open for a sequel for a reason. Just in case the movie does good they can already go ahead with it, or if it does bad they can just end it. Unfortunately, the sequel will probably come out, but the is a movie where it totally doesn't need a franchise. If they make another, plz end it so not to ruin a very good first movie.

I agree. I have a feeling even she has enough sense to avoid this.
