Even though Tallulah Bankhead's performance as Constance Porter in LIFEBOAT was technically the best of the bunch, I'm going with Janet Leigh as Marion Crane in PSYCHO, of course (although she was more famous as a victim than an outright leading lady).

I beg to differ, Antonio. Tallulah Bankhead gave a truly great performance, but I'd say Ingrid Bergman in Notorious was the best of them all. She gets my vote.
