I've just read on a site that there's going to be another A Clockwork Orange dvd with commentery by Malcolm McDowell and (hopefully) many extras. Has anybody else heard about this?

I have heard absolutely nothing about this.
I still have the VHS tape because the DVD is one of the biggest piece of shit excuses for a "Collector's Edition" that I have ever come accross. There is SHIT for 'special features'. Nothing special about that DVD.
So please don't be jerkin my chain! It's one of my favorite movies.
That would be great, if it were true. My kingdom for some decent supplementary material: commentaries, interviews... anything!

Don't worry. I heard of this on a Malcolm Mcdowell website. It goes as follows:
Good news! New ACO! Bad news! New ACO!
Malcolm mentioned to me last year that he was approached to record a DVD commentary track for ACO. Jan Harlan, Kubrick's brother-in-law and producer, has now confirmed he is working on a third collection of Kubrick DVDs with his short films and all kinds of extras for each film and his A Life in Pictures. This would be the fourth version of ACO released on DVD in the last 5 years which means more money out of your pocket if you already have a previous version as most of us do.
I'll buy it when it comes out. I really love this film and refuse to let Warner Brothers get the idea that I'll settle for bare-bones DVDs.

This is the reason I hold out on buying bare-bones editions of movies, something better always comes out. I hope this happens.
Well, I think I should start burning the shitty old snapper case one. Damn, I wasted all that money on the limited edition!

i just bought the kubrick collection, so i don't think i'll be spending any more money on another copy of aco. but i think a better edition is a cool idea.

Am i the only person that hates commentary on DVD?
Still would be worth a rent to see the new extras.

I'm not a huge fan of the double dip, but for Mr. Kubrick, I'll make an exception:)

I can tell you this much for certain - there ARE NO DELETED scenes to this movie! There was one sequence that was shot that didnt make the final cut, a pretty violent one, and reliable sources say that Kubrick personally had that footage destroyed.
I think the best "extra" one could hope for would be a commentary track, and if it was done by McDowell, I'd give it a listen.

I believe it was a scene where they attack an old man who looks like Col. Sanders near a library.

A commentary track sounds superb, and it'd be just wonderful if they managed to put together a documentary of some kind. The more ACO the better.

I think I would buy A Clockwork Orange on DVD if one was to come out with good extras. A commentary for the film would be great.
Depending on the extras I might buy it again.

I spent like $35 on the bare bones disc out now, but I'd buy the new version for sure.
The bare bones DVD is now like $13 and perhaps a little bit more at most places. I originally bought mine for $30! Shit, how things have changed.
I'd kill for a McDowell commentary.. please ask me to kill for a McDowell commentary.
Any other extras they can think of will be just fine, but it would certainly be worth upgrading if there's a commentary track.

This would be a dream come true! This is #2 on my ten most wanted commentary tracks. Ralph Macchio commentary for Katrate Kid is #1.
