Hey guys, i just finished watching this film(i watched all four) and i kinda liked it, the envirement and some characters were cool i.r matthew mcaughnehey(sp). It would've been better if Gunner was in it with that atmosphere. Hey, thats my opinion. I have a question though answer this, MINOR SPOILERS...... at the end when renee zellwegger was in the hospital and saw a girl on a gurneyand that guy says, "you know that patient" and it ended just showing someone push her out that a fade to black. What's with that, i didn't get it? Thanx!

There are alot of threads about this movie...and I gotta say I slightly agree. I saw it again last night on HBO (man, out of all the TCM's, they pick this one to play the most) but it wasnt as bad as I remember. Im not saying to movie was good by any means, but it was definately not as bad as I thought. The atmosphere was about the only great thing. The house was excellent and the woods were pretty creepy as well. Renee Zellweger (sp?) and Matthew McCoughney (sp?) were kinda enjoyable. Leatherface was absolutely terrible and so was his mask. Anyone who bitches about the mask in the remake....just see a picture of this mask and you will be forever grateful. The ending and "plot twist" were confusing but slightly effective nonetheless. For some reason, the last hallway scene in the hospital was a pretty effective way to end the movie. But, with some major improvements, it wouldve been an OK movie if it hadnt been TCM. But it didnt fit the real pattern for a real TCM movie.
Overall, see the movie if ur a diehard TCM fan, or you just want to see almost every horror movie out there. (4/10)

That woman on the gurney was Marilyn Burns who played Sally in the original.

I have one word for this movie: CRAP
While I did enjoy the lst half n hour or so, I thought it was rather pointless and boring. The people were beyong annoying...Why did they even decide to make this?

I took one look at the boxart and then at the back cover with the crossdresser and I said, 'What the fuck is this shit?!'. After picking myself up from being thrown out of Blockbuster, I concluded that this movie had nothing to do with TCM and was a glorified joke and a half. If I recall, LEATHERFACE DOESN'T DRESS LIKE A CROSSDRESSER!!! Stupid director. . .

This movie was a major yawner as far as I'm concerned. I like Matthew McCaunahey he is one of my favorite actors and the only redeeming thing about this stinker. I could really give a rat's ass about any of the characters, annoying and bad acting to boot.

Thats not exactly true. In the original he had a certain mask which looked like a black haired woman. It had lipstick and everything. Now, he wasnt wearing a dress or anything that extreme but at the end of the movie, he is wearing slightly femenine clothes. Now, in TCM 4, they decided to go full throttle with the whole cross-dresser thing, and I dont think it was a wise choice. It was too distracting.

this movie has one of the best instances of "bad movie logic" i've ever seen. the part where (highlight to read) matthew is chasing renee in his truck. he's trying to mow her down on a backroad in the woods, a road that is blocked in by trees on both sides. and what is her brilliant escape strategy? she runs down the center of the road! go into the woods, moron!

I liked this, like the rest. It was pretty goofy but all good fun I thought.

First few times I saw it, I hated it and thought it was a disgrace to the TCM series. But this movie has some weird effect in that it slowly grows on you after you watch it enough. It comes on so much now on HBO/Cinemax that when I watch it again, I don't find it as bad as I once did. Now maybe I would give it 1 star, whereas before I would have given it zero. :)
Has this happened to anyone else? Has it grown on you the more times you watched it?

I realized that just now that in the original he had various masks for various tasks.

Wow, I can't believe this movie has defenders. I thought TCM:TNG was abysmal. Every scene is turgid and goes on far, far too long with no payoff. The actors look like they have no idea what is expected of them, and while Zellweger and McConaughey do their best to just let loose and go crazy, they still, by the middle of scenes, look like marathon runners out of breath. And, yeah, what the hell was with that "plot twist" and that ending? This flick struck me as a movie made by those who don't like horror movies but agree to make them anyway because they think the job will be easy and brainless.

The movie made no sense...such as with Rothman. Who the hell was he? And what was his purpose and relationship with the sawyer family? It was just weird.

Ahhh, that is the charm of TCM 4, it makes no fucking sense and you must appreciate for the illogical piece of shit that it is. THE MANGLER is the same in that respect.
Why does Vilmer act like a frat boy and do the Neanderthal yell? Why does Grandpa leave the table?
Questions like that detract when enjoying TCM 4 with a loved one.

I feel the exact same way.I detested it at first but have watched it several times since and get a kick out of it.It's not a good movie but it's lots of fun to watch and very cheesy.I agree with everyone that it makes zero sense but I sure gets lots of laughs out of it.That dinner scene is hilarious.:D
