Has anyone noticed the new crappy boxes that BlockBuster gives with their previously viewed DVDS? I personally hate them, I don't know why they stopped giving the original/display boxes. These new boxes are cheap, and they don't hold inserts. What do you guys think about them?

Ya know whats even worse? Movies that were snapper cases they give you in those shitty cases too. Now I know everyone hates snappers but I think in this case your would want the real box.

Plus, thier prices aren't even that good, some are, but most are like $3-$5 off a new dvd at best buy. They are the "Suncoast" of used movies, way overpriced.

Talking about prices and previously viewed DVDs at Blockbuster. I don't know if it's the same in the US but in the UK most movies are released in a RENTAL VERSION that comes without the extras that you get on the retail version. The laughable thing is that Blockbuster in the UK often sell these rental versions after they have been out for rental for a month or so (and often scratched as a result) for almost as much as you can buy the retail version that comes with all of the extras. Motherfuckers!!! I actually used to work for Blockbusters and it was an ok job. I got free rentals and a discount off of anything I bought. This policy of selling on these cheap ass rental versions is a fucking joke though. And not a funny one. Assholes.

One more thing. There's a shop in Glasgow (the nearest big city to the town I live in) that sells second hand DVDs. Something I noticed recently is that the fuckers are selling box sets such as the first season of NYPD Blue and Law And Order for about £5.00 more than you can buy the damn things brand new from Play.com. I told the guy at the counter in the shop and he just shrugged and said "some idiot will buy them". And you know something? He was right. I went back into the shop a few days later and the Law And Order box set was gone (NYPD Blue is still there). Someone actually bought this box set for £39.99 with a tatty, worn at the edges cardboard sleeve (and considering how they store the discs...in a pile on a shelf...probably more than a few scratches) when they could have got the thing brand spanking new for £34.99 from Play.com. There are some fucking chumps out there.

I never buy used DVD's. Don't mean to sound picky, but people rent them, drop them, scratch them up, put boogers on them, etc.

I want my DVD to be fresh and new right out of the factory, and I will gladly pay extra bucks to buy them.

I do buy second hand dvds but I carefully inspect them before I part with the cash. I've got some real bargains over the years.

It royally pisses me off. We're paying anywhere from $9.99-$16.99 for them here in the US for DVDs that have been viewed numerous times, and they can't even throw in te real boxes like they used to? I have quite a few of these in my collection, and just looking at them makes me unhappy. Plus they don't even give you the inserts for the DVDs.

I don't like their boxes either but I don't buy movies from there much anyway for that fact. What really makes me mad is when I buy movies from the store and they don't have an insert when I'm pretty sure that they are supposed to. Does anyone know if Old School is supposed to have an insert or not because I didn't get one?

I'd assume the shop you're referring to it Missing?

You're right, they're getting quite crap with their prices. The last thing I bougth from there was that Puppet Master boxset, I've ben buying everything else from play.com and ebay.

No Scully...i'm talking about Cash Converters on Renfield Street. I've not been in Missing for a while now. Been meaning to pay it a visit but I preferred it when they occupied the big shop on Waterloo Street.

You had to go and mention the Puppet Master Box Set again...didn't you? Always rubbing it in every chance you get. :p

One more thing about the Blockbuster boxes I HATE all those stupid annoying stickers they put on it, if its rated R, it has the parental sticker, it has the price sticker, stickers on the side to seal it, and the big print out sticker on the back. They are all impossible to get off, not to mention useless(some) and I hate them!

if you hate the blockbuster cases why do you buy them, do you expect to get the same quality for a cheaper price

Well less than 4 months ago, we got display cases. Now we get shit. What gives Blockbuster? Oh well, they're still the cheapest for the Elephant Man so far...

LOL thats is so true, at least the weeded out the ones that customers tried to play with a toothpick, and they can't be as worst as the cases Hollywood Video uses for the pervious viewed.

I just throw them out sinc eI have a shitload of blank cases I get off the internet.

I don't buy there anymore, maybe for vhs. I can get them cheaper at say a pawn shop, online, or at a used disc store. The difference with Blockbuster and a used disc store is, the store has real boxes, inserts, and cleans the dvds before putting them out, unlike Blockbuster, who just throws them in a case.

First let me say that Blockbuster is over priced all around for anything you are going to BUY in that store. Their rentals aren't too bad, but if you're look'n to buy, they're take'n your left nut too (left nipple for the ladies). Who the hell wants to pay that much for a fuck'n used OR new movie.? You can get a brand new one in the REAL fuck'n box for 5 dollars (usually less than that) more at Best Buy. I won't even comment on how expensive their new movies are to purchase, what a joke. And those cases are shit, not worth the value of the plastic they're made of. Who's idea was this? To quote Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, those cases are "fuck'n clown shoes."

take that shit back dude... you wouldn't have to spend too much more to buy it new... it's worth it, trust me... I used to be big into the used movie scene... but I've had WAY too many problems, and I've been dicked over TOO many times... better to bargain shop online, a lot of times you can find new DVDs at used prices if you're willing to put in the work to find them...

For new AND used flicks try www.half.com (but like I said, careful with the used shit)

For new stuff give this sight a try www.deepdiscountdvd.com (they have real competitive prices and FREE SHIPPING)

I generally don't but used DVD's myself. Another reason is I work at Hollywood Video.

I have about a 100 used disc. I pretty much cut out Blockbuster and Family video because of the cases. I live close to 3 used DVD stores. The discs are always cleaned up and I've never had a problem with them.

Blockbuster is good for those you would not normally get. Buy 2 and get the third one free is hard to pass up. 3 for $20.

The Blockbuster Video in my town sells their previously owned disks in their original cases so maybe this is just a U.S thing.
Also the new releases are are for two nights instead of one night and then back the next morning by 12:00 that i always hear people complaining about on the net.
