There are no scares and no gore. It's just an excellent movie. Highly recommended.

It is a mindfuck.

It's absolutely nothing like Event Horizon.

To reveal even the basic plot would spoil some of your enjoyment...best to go in blind.

It has many, many good scenes.

No scares that I recall.

No gore.

It is however a superb movie. Terry Gilliam can do no wrong in my eyes. A wonderful movie with an ending that will have you rewinding the movie and watching it again.

I agree totally. Terry Gilliam is the man, and "12 Monkeys" is one of his best.

Yeah it's a good movie but it is a bit confusing. You might have to watch it a couple of times to get a full grasp on it.

It's not horror, it's more sci-fi.

Terry Gilliam is a spectacular director, with an amazing and imaginitive vision.

Twelve Monkeys is a bit of a mindfuck, with good performances and and neat story. It's about Bruce Willis as a prisoner in the future, sent back in time to find the origin of what caused a virus to spread around the world which destroyed most of the population. He's to collect samples, but of course shit hits the fan and strange scenarios ensue.

Go rent it and have a good time. The commentary is pretty decent, too. I always like to hear what Gilliam has to say. :D

Watch it twice...

When I first started watching it, I was like "what is this piece of shit?" and by the end of the movie, it was one of my favorite movies (especially the last 10 seconds and last line of the movie).

Not at all what I'd call a horror flick (kickass sci-fi, yes), but definitely a fun watch. This is hands-down one of Brad Pitts best performances and the one, for me, that proved his talents (fucking whack-job!).

12 monkeys...

is about the time travel paradox: and it explores the theoretical & philosphical arguments about why time travel cannot exist

Along the way, the film stays true to itself, and becomes a very intelligent thriller by the end of the movie.

I do NOT like 12 monkeys. The movie, which is intriguing at the start and wonderful at the end, is overlong in the middle by about 20-25 minutes. I generally don't like 'psychiatrist' movies like K-Pax, because they are talky and I would like films to SHOW ME rather than lecture at me like I'm an idiot. So, while 12 monkeys is a great Sci-Fi at the start and end, it is a talky, nothing happening, psychiatrist movie in the middle & for most of its running time... & I don't have that long of an attention span.

Rent it before you buy.

12 Monkeys should in no way be considered a horror movie: to the extent that it's a mindscrew film it only is such because it is an intelligent movie that asks the viewer deep questions.
