Wow! American Wedding help up much better than I expected it to!
But PotC is at number 2? I'm getting tired of hearing about it fast, real fast.
It's good to see Bad Boys II still making some money, that is definitely one of the best "Summer popcorn movies" I've seen in a long while...
And poor Gigli, it's already fallen to number 11...

Awesome news for POTC
One of the better movies in the summer crop!

Die already Finding Nemo, jeez!
TR2's climbed to #5. That's cool. It has a total of $44M in 11 days and I don't consider that too bad.

When all is said and done TR2 will end up making back its money and then some...( DVD sales etc ).

Considering its opening, AW held up really really well. PotC and SK3D also showed their staying power.
Poor Gigli...

Yeah, poor Gigli, even the stars of the film are slagging it off!

Damn is POTC doing well!
Little to no decrease between Mon-Tues
..and a certain Lara Croft is holding very well! :)
Pirates of the Caribbean is a box office machine! I wouldn't be surprised if it gets to #1 sometime in August.

It definately appears that POTC is going strong and staying strong. I haven't heard a single bad thing about it from anyone who's seen it, and I know a number of people who've seen it multiple times. It looks like it will be around for some time.

Now you have: I personally found it to be dull attempt at an old-fashioned pirate film with incredibly dumb humor. God, POTC is the most overrated movie ever, possibly. It's sad.

Can it still be over rated if only you think that?

While I'm happy for it, I too am kind of getting sick of seeing the same old same old movies in the same spots. I wish the Box Office would get shaken up some and we'd get some new surprises. It gets old seeing the same movies in the same spots.

I like to see longevity like Pirates of the Caribbean. I like it when movies make lots of money over time rather than mainly just in opening weekend.

I was one of those people who got "Freaky" last night. And it was great. It deserves every penny.
FREAKY FRIDAY is getting its "freak" on... I'm very happy with the results, especially since its Wednesday gross is pretty much dead-on with my prediction.
These were my predictions, which I'm really happy with. Hopefully the rest of the numbers for its 5 days will be close to what I predicted.
WEDNESDAY - 6 MILLION
THURSDAY - 5.1 MILLION
FRIDAY - 6.7 MILLION
SATURDAY - 8.1 MILLION
SUNDAY - 6.6 MILLION
5-Day Total = 32.5 MILLION
3-Day Weekend Total = 21.4 MILLION

Geez, Pirates still staying strong. Take no prisoners!
Anyways, good to see Freaky doing well. Unfortunately it's going up against Colin "I'm in every bloody movie made in the past year" Farrel with SWAT, but it is counter-programming, so it draws a different crowd.
This is from Box Office Guru:
THIS WEEKEND After nine consecutive weeks of new summer action movie openings, last weekend saw none. The long wait for action fans is now over as Sony unveils its cop thriller S.W.A.T. starring Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell. Produced by Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, XXX), the PG-13 film finds a Los Angeles Special Weapons And Tactics unit under fire when a captured criminal mastermind publicly offers a $100M reward to any group that could free him from police custody. Both lead actors are hard working as Jackson starred in four films last year and Farrell now graces the screens for the fourth time this year after The Recruit, Daredevil, and Phone Booth.
S.W.A.T. has many factors working in its favor including a strong cast (which also includes Michelle Rodriguez and LL Cool J), an intriguing concept, good marketing, and the lack of a number 2 in its title. However, it does enter the summer box office as the thirteenth action movie. Teens and young adults will probably make up most of the audience while a portion of those who remember the 1970s television series are likely to show up too. Farrell's rising starpower and sex appeal will certainly help bring in females while Jedi Master Windu always brings broad appeal to the table. A solid African-American turnout will also help. Debuting in 3,202 theaters, S.W.A.T. could find itself at number one this weekend with around $28M.
Disney's unblemished summer record gets put to the test this weekend with the mother-daughter comedy Freaky Friday which made an early bow on Wednesday to jumpstart the frame. Jamie Lee Curtis and The Parent Trap's Lindsay Lohan play the duo who find themselves living in each other's bodies which, of course, leads to wacky situations. The PG-rated film will certainly skew female and reach out to the family audience meaning the studio will continue to corner that market with Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean and subsidiary Miramax's Spy Kids 3-D.
Sneak previews three weeks ago and the mid-week launch allow good buzz to spread early before the bulk of the audience hits the theaters over the weekend. The Disney brand name, the appealing stars, and the recycled story will make the film draw parents who remember the Jodie Foster original as well as girls that will call this new one their own. Openings for recent pics aimed at this demo include $17.3M for May's The Lizzie McGuire Movie, $11.4M for April's What A Girl Wants, and the surprising $22.9M of Disney's late-summer entry The Princess Diaries from two years ago. Freaky Friday bowed on Wednesday in 2,710 locations and widens to 2,954 theaters on Friday. Look for a solid start with a weekend gross of around $19M and a five-day bow of $27M.
In limited release, Fox Searchlight debuts the James Ivory-directed romantic comedy Le Divorce starring Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts. The PG-13 pic opens in 34 theaters in ten cities. Also landing in top markets across North America is Bollywood's first science fiction film Koi...Mil Gaya starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. The Hindi-language picture follows a man with the intellect of an eleven-year-old who comes in contact with an extra-terrestrial.
After a top spot bow, Universal's American Wedding should see its box office honeymoon come to an abrupt end with a substantial drop. In its second weekend, American Pie 2 tumbled 53% against relatively mild competition in August 2001. Wedding faces a tougher field so a 55% fall to $15M could result giving American Wedding $66M in ten days.
Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean is still sailing forward and a 25% decline to $14M could result giving the Johnny Depp blockbuster $234M to date. Seabiscuit is also showing strong legs and a 30% drop to $12M would put the Universal drama at $70M overall. Spy Kids 3-D will see some of its family crowd run off to Disney's Freaky Friday so a 45% decline to $11M would give the adventure sequel $89M in 17 days.

S.W.A.T. made way too damn much! I only expected a 7 million first day. DAAAAAMN. I was going to see it next weekend and buy a ticket for it, but it really doesn't need that much help from me. I'll probably just buy a ticket for Uptown Girls and sneak in afterwards.
Freaky Friday did well. I'm glad for it, it was a really good movie and if you haven't seen it, go do so now! I command you! ;)
American Wedding had a big drop, which isn't really suprising... Almost everyone who REALLY wanted to see it has seen it by now.
S.W.A.T. made too much damn it... Both S.W.A.T. and Freaky Friday made more than I had predicted for them to make on Friday. I'm happy for Freaky Friday, but I wish S.W.A.T. would have made closer to what I predicted. My predictions for it SUCK now. For the most part, Friday's numbers aren't very special. It will be nice to see how the weekend turns out though.
These were my predictions for S.W.A.T. and Freaky Friday:
S.W.A.T.
Friday - 9.3 Million
Saturday - 10.3 Million
Sunday - 7.6 Million
Total - 27.2 Million
FREAKY FRIDAY (these predictions were made before its Wednesday numbers were released, actually, they were made Tuesday)
Friday - 6.7 Million
Saturday - 8.1 Million
Sunday - 6.6 Million
Total - 21.4 Million
My predictions suck!
S.W.A.T is Colin Farrell's fourth hit in less than a year. Impressive!
Wow.. SWAT did way better than i expected/wanted. POTC looks to have a bigger drop than usual this week. I'm glad.

I am very happy that Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl held up so well. A 33% drop is still great, despite it being slightly larger than last weekend's.
I am also extremely happy over S.W.A.T.'s gross, and I hope it holds up well in the weeks to come.
Gigli's Friday numbers are horrible. It made $204.000 for a $92 per screen average from 2215 theatres!
And they call LXG and TR2 bombs!

SWAT was okay.... wtg, i gues...
I'm happy Freaky Friday did so well, I think it looks pretty decent. There are alot of holdovers this week, exception goes to American Wedding. I want to see this movie so bad! With good word of mouth, im surprised this dropped so much.

Blah, I figured S.W.A.T. would be a hit, nothing interesting...
Freaky Friday increased a bit! I hope word of mouth is strong on this one, 'cause this could be a sleeper hit.
Mediocre quality aside, Pirates of the Caribbean continues to perform strongly at the box office.
Otherwise, nothing worth noting, IMO.

If it is that bad then it will follow the trend and have large declines and disappear before anyone would be able to say "sequel". But I don't see that coming..

'DevilMonkey' and I, on AIM, were guessing film's drops this weekend, I said 82% for Gigli, and I was right. Cool, but, of course, I was wrong on many other points.
Oh, and, WAY TO GO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Seabiscuit, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and S.W.A.T.!

Yes, but I'm sure your third favorite movie of the year "House of 1 Corpse" is a masterpiece in comparison.... I must have missed that one in theaters but I did catch House of 1000 Corpses.
I'm just kidding, it's just that everytime I read "HO1C" I can't help but think that. ;)
