Juan Carlos Fresenadillo's feature film debut INTACTICO premiered at this years BRISBANE FILM FESTIVAL here in Oz and sadly I missed it. It also screened at Canne and Sundance last year. (Yep things take a long time to get here sometimes.)

The director won an Oscar for his short film LINKED. Critics have even described the directors work as reminiscent of Christopher Nolan, David Fincher and Darren Aronofsky.

It sounds like yet another fine film Thriller/mindscrew to come out of Spain. Ive made a point of not readinga synopsis of the film as it sounds like a case of the less you know the more enthralling the film will be.

Has anyone seen it and if so is it good enough to sacrifice my first born for????

Those who havent seen it but are fans of intelligent, cerebral thrillers ala CYPHER should really try and find it too and then tell me what you think....

Please wet my appetite as I plan on seeing this film ASAP and it sounds like a real gem..

I wouldn't recommend sacrificing your first born, but I think it's certainly interesting enough to check out. I agree, the less you know, the more you might enjoy it.

I'm the only Spanish here, so probably i'm the only one that have seen INTACTO ;)

Well, it's not THAT great. Basically it has a great premise and a great atmosphere, good performances... but the result doesn't work as good as it could. Maybe because it spends a lot of time creating the atmosphere for each scene, and you expect that something better is going to happen... It's like if the main scenes were watered down, so they create a tension (or best said, an expectation) that isn't confirmed or maintained for latter purposes.

I can tell you a bit about the plot without spoiling anything:
Sam possesses the ability to steal, sell, or give away "good luck" to anyone he chooses. He steals luck from Federico, an earthquake survivor, who swears vengeance. Federico meets Tomas, a recent plane crash survivor, who just may be the man to help. (from imdb.com)

It's not a bad movie. It's really interesting, but compared with its possibilities, it leaves you the impression that it's somewhat wasted. I still don't have clear if the wasting is in the script or in the direction, cause they both are at first sight good. Maybe my expectations were too high. But anyway it's worth watching: 6/10.

PS: BTW, Fresnadillo was NOMINATED for the Oscar with that short, but he didn't win.

Intacto is alot of fun and original and inventive enough to warrant a viewing, especially for the main lead's performance and Max von Sydow's great acting, even if its a small role.
