Anyone else see this movie? Just picked up the DVD today and got done watching it. Pretty good movie; lots of action and a decent storyline. It has Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci in it, both of which are in one my all-time favorite movies, Irreversible, which inspired me to pick this one up. All together I'd give his movie a 7/10.

I think this movie is just a huge mess. The flashy editing made me feel all ditsy, and the OTT cartoonish violence is kind of fun at the beginning, but gets old really quickly. I barely remember anything about the performances (it's been years ago that I saw DOBERMANN), but I don't have any fond memories of this flick, and I certainly don't intend to watch it again.

Surprisingly, i almost coincide with Ren here. It's original, but its story is confusing and messy. I even think this movie has no plot at all, it's just a conglomerate of action sequences. It was curious to see and eyecandy, but finally boring. 5/10

Interestingly everyone I know loves this film. I think it's rubbish.
Technically it's very competent, cinematograpy especially is very slick.
But the script was just terrible. Some of the worst dialogue I've ever heard, poor plot, and boring characters.
Some of the action and violence was nice, but it was derivative of better films and there wasn't enough eye-candy to make up for the boringness of the film.
Acting was OK, but for me Karyo was the only one who made some sort of impression.
The flick was trying very hard to be ballsy and controversial, but it just ended up being dull and sterile for me. I did like the baby-throwing scene, thought. The film needed more bizarre stuff like that.
3/10.

This movie is most notable for having one of the most evil cops in movies in recent memory to me as personified by Tcheky Karyo, great over the top performance.

Well , so so ... I mean Bellucci is hot ... Cassel is an ass ... Thecky Karyo is cool as always ...
What I loved:
-The begining with the bus
-The end in the car
-The fucked up bar with the transvestines
-Bellucci
-Karyo
What I didn't like:
-Cassel
Looks like it's a friggin cool movie ... the end ... is friggin awsome ... I'll give ... 7/10

It's a cool flick. Not the uber-fantastic masterpiece a lot of people make it out to be (especially over here in France), but it's definitely worth a sitting. Technically, it's extremely slick, it's got a few bizarres passages, and Cassel and Karyo were both excellent if you ask me. As for Bellucci...well...it's Bellucci. ;)

...and it's got pretty neat title credits too.

BTW Logan.. sorry when I said Cassel sucked badly.. after I watched the making of of Crimson Rivers on the DVD, I friggin like him.. why? Cuz he used expressions like "nique" or "putain de merde" and other GREAT DELICIOUS WORDS from the beatiful french language.
