One of my all time favourite directors...I mean the man made TRAINSPOTTING!

I also like A LIFE LESS ODINARY which is a very under-rated flick. However his worst work still comes when he has bigger budgets a la THE BEACH and the way he got rid of McGregor cause Fox wanted Di Caprio was definitely not his high point. THE BEACH is not a bad film but when it comes to his best work its not really up there with SHALLOW GRAVE and of course the magnificent 28 DAYS LATER.

What does everybody else think? His next project MILLIONS sounds interesting, about a couple of kids who come across some money and have a week to spend it before the UK reverts to Euros...(Bastards!) Plus hopefully one day he'll make PORNO.

Anyway what do the people think?

Yay or Nay?

Shallow Grave: Great movie, very impressive debut!
Trainspotting: I'm speechless, it's brilliant.
A Life Less Ordinary: It was okay, loved the dance sequence.
The Beach: I hated it.
28 Days Later: Haven't seen it yet, looking forward to it.

Let's face it, for Trainspotting alone he gets a yay although it worries me that he hasn't even come close to that level since.

How can I say no to a local skally?

He doesn't half look like Moz these days.

He screwed McGregor over though...which did piss me off at the time.

Shallow Grave - Tops flick...9/10.
Trainspotting - Brilliant...10/10.
A Life Less Ordinary - Enjoyable schmaltz, and a guilty pleasure...7/10.
The Beach - Not truly horrific, but a disappointment...5.5/10 for Tilda alone.
28 Days Later - Improves with EVERY watch, quite excellent...8.5/10.

I've seen 3 of his films, and all go from EXCELLENT to decent.

Shallow Grave: 9/10 the darkest of dark and purely delicious
Trainspotting: 10/10...I don't think I need to embellish upon my love for this any further.
A Life Less Ordinary: 7/10 Guilty pleasure. Love the Bobby Darrin shite.

YAY! Awesome director, and all his films (with The Beach and 28 Days Later excluded) are either great or excellent.

Only seen Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. The former was very overrated to me, while the latter was pretty good. He still gets a NAY from me

I saw only Trainspotting (9/10, 6th in my favorites) and The Beach (6/10) so far. Well, Trainspotting is fabulous, his directing is great, but I have to see other movies.
