What do you think are the scariest movies of each decade? As I went through my DVD collection, I realized I did not own a horror film made after the 1990. I also want to know your opinion on the scariest classic horror films. Here are mine:

1960s- Night of the Living Dead

1970s- The Exorcist, Halloween, TCM

1980s- Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser

1990s- Jacob's Ladder

2000s- ?

70's- The Exorcist and Jaws

80's- I don't know if it was just cuz I was a kid or what, but Critters scared the freakin SHIT outta me.

90's- Blair Witch Project, Ringu, and Scream

00's- All I can think of is The Ring...... bleh. Hopefully we'll get to see a scarier movie (that's not a remake) in the next 7 years.

Well then you waited too long in your life to watch them. I have fond memories of watching some of the classics, like Dawn of the Dead, when I was a little kid (around 7) and it scared the hell out of me. Movies can't scare me anymore, but damn... there was a time when they did. That is probably why I keep watching them... trying to recapture that feeling.

Scariest by decade (according to me):

60s - Night of the Living Dead, Psycho
70s - The Exorcist, TCM
80s - The Thing, The Evil Dead
90s - Maybe The Blair Witch Project

However, I cannot rest, as I was only making a statement of my opinion.

Actually, when I made the statement earlier I was only inquiring because I wasn't sure what "case" was being made. Usually, when "one" rests one's case, they have presented an argument. In other words they have presented a persuasive set of facts with the intention of establishing their viewpoint as correct, or at the very least justifying its existence.

Or maybe I just saw you insult someone else and felt it was slightly uncalled for.

Either way... welcome to the boards!

80's = Friday the 13th series ( I remeber hiding in my mothers back seat at a drive-in at the age or 6 scared to death at when my mother said it's all over and the Jason jumps from the lake):D
90's =Blair Witch Project
20?? = so far I'd say The Ring

Good one! I totally agree!

I thought long and hard, but so far nothing in the 2000s has really done it for me. There have been very entertaining films, but nothing terrifying. There's still time, though.
