Cows Tortured In Hollywood

I was reading a review in the "rat Race" section on JoBlo's site and someone talked about how cows are always getting hurt in films. In "Rat Race","Me,Myself, and irene" cows all get hurt. Why do you guys think this is?

Remember the cow hit by the car in "O Brother.."? Though slightly shocked I laughed in spite of myself. Perhaps it is because of the oft repeated mantra that cows are so stupid etc. And of course we do need to come to terms (if we grant them personality/intelligence) with their relationship with hamburgers. Can you imagine the uproar over everyones favorite dog getting run over?

OH MY GOD. I totally forgot about Lake Placid, I hated that part where she tied the cow up and it was eaten. I felt so bad for the cow. In a way it was kind of disturbing. Lake Placid and Jurassic Park were by far the worst I've seen so far...

Actually, that was a goat in JP.

Anyway, why in the hell do we care about cows? I've killed more cows in my lifetime (burgers, steaks and the like) than I could probably count. If they want to blow them up and shoot them on film, I won't object.
