Actually, it sounds nice and all, but I wouldnt want to be in a Halloween 9...
If the movie critcally bombed, no studio will pick you up as an actor for future films...

Not so true
I have seen old movies that were probably shitty(saw some teen slasher flick with brad pitt on the cover last week that I never saw/heard of) that alot of stars were in b4 they were stars and they were extras.
You have to look at it this way. How hungry and how far are you willing to take it to get into movies.
Thats the key and from what I understand if you are a hot looking chick/guy trying to make it in hollywood well your on your knees so to speak unless discovered.
But its like anything if your willing to get the experience and go for it anyone can make it as far as thier potential allows.
I think making it in hollywood for most is the difference between those who are willing to eat at soup kitchens and out of garbage bins while pursuling thier dream and those who decide its not for them.
I know personally I could never be a leading man and would be most likely one of those token bad guys you see in films no matter how much I tried(I am big weight has fluctated between 210lbs and up(most of the time solid) at 5'9 forever and I am shaven bald with a goatee with alot of character but I am a realist...leading man???nope...psycho killer or token villain?? yep
Its how much you want it not the work you have done.
Dont forget Spielberg gave Feldman his big teen roles as a kid after seeing Friday the 13th Part 4
Other notables in friday the 13th films(my fave horror series but no oscar winners)= Kevin Bacon and Crispin Glover as examples
Just food for thought

very well said milhouse. like you said, MANY stars get their break from horror. Tom hanks earliest movie was a really shitty slasher flick. and look at the man now, one of, if not THE most respected and sought after actor in hollywood. Johnny Depp-Nightmare on Elm Street, Jamie Lee Curtis- Halloween, Kevin Bacon- F13. So I think that it's actually a not too bad career choice to make.
