Plot: Hell-raising guitarist with delusions of grandeur Dewey Finn (Jack Black) has been kicked out of his band. Desperate for work, he impersonates a substitute teacher and turns a class of fifth grade high-achievers into high-voltage rock and rollers ready to compete in a local radio station’s Battle of the Bands contest.
Release Date: October 3, 2003
Director: Richard Linklater
Cast: Jack Black, Joan Cusack, Mike White, Sarah Silverman
Jack Black is the man and he is pretty much the reason to see this movie. Story & plot has be done before but, Joan Cusack IMO is also a definte plus for the movie.

Jack Black was good in Shallow Hal and Saving Silverman and Orange County but this plot sounds kind of shaky. I'll check it out though.

I saw the exclusive trailer and it looks really enjoyable. Not going to be the funniest film ever but it will be enjoyable none the less. Plus Sarah Silverman is in it and she is a damn funny woman.

I hope this is funny cuz it's like one of Jack Black's starring vehicles. I mean I don't like how it's a PG film. I think someone just needs to come up with a plot and let Jack Black do his thing which is be one of the funniest men on the planet. If this film is funny than it proves no matter what you put him in he can be funny. Much like Jim Carrey when he doesn't think he's a dramatic actor.

hey now...i dont want him od'n....
but this sounds like opposites and competition for the fighting temptations as far as the genre goes...this obviously appealing more to me then the whole beyonce and cuba cast, jack blacks got better laughs then them 2....

Eh.... I'm split on this one. Black can be REALLY funny at times and just stupid at others. Overall, I do like his style of comedy and he is usually good for laugh. The first part of the preview looked like a typical Jack Black film, until it showed the whole substitute teacher thing almost giving it that family movie feel. This movie doesn't look all that apealling to me, but I'll probably give it a chance.

'I'm hungover, does anyone know what that means?'
'Doesnt that mean you're drunk?'

I'll see it, but it looks too cute for me...
I think this looks pretty fucking funny. I have passes that I won last weekend to see it tonight. I just don't know if I'll have the time to go tonight or not. At the moment, I have something else I'm supposed to do tonight so I wouldn't be able to go, but I'm going to try to get out of it so I can check it out. If not though, I'll be kicking myself in the ass for missing the chance to go see SCHOOL OF ROCK early and for FREE.

I love Jack Black, and despite the fact that the past couple of movies he's been in have been utter shite, I'll probably be seeing it.

I've been hearing great press about this from reviewers who usually hate comedies. Sounds like it may be good. Here's hoping it has a cracking soundtrack.
