A horror movie that I loved but everyone seemed to hate was the exorsist. all of my friends told me it was overated and funny. they told me that crap like wrong turn and house of 1000 corpses was better. but i found it to be very scary. even now after all those years it was out i still find it amazing. people often forget that this movie was made so long ago and they dident have the technologly they have now. masterpiece.

Also
I Know What You Did Last Summer (***/4)
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (**1/2 / 4)
Urban Legend (**1/2 / 4)
Valentine **1/2 or ***/4)
A lot of people hate these movies, because they're supposedly "teeny-bopper" horror flicks (whatever the hell those are supposed to mean/be, I don't know). I just think these are mostly well-done horror films that are fun and get too much flak from critics (naturally!) and schmoes on the board here especially.
These movies aren't so bad!

To call THE EXORCIST a film that everyone "hated" is a little strange. It is one of the most critically acclaimed horror films of all-time, as well as a regular on most horror geeks top-10 lists. Just because you have a few friends who think "real" horror didn't begin until SCREAM doesn't mean that "everyone" agrees.
Shouldn't we keep this with films that were more-or-less panned by mostly everyone?
If so, I'll go with JASON GOES TO HELL. This film had everything a cheesy horror movie was supposed to have, yet most (although the people in this room tend to swing my way) have utter contempt for this movie. It is easily one of the most despised Jason movies. What can I say, I guess I have bad taste.

BLAIR WITCH 2: BOOK OF SHADOWS - I have to admire the films sharp difference from the original. The filmakers could have been lazy and just said they found more footage of the original trio. What did you want?
DARKNESS FALLS - Call me a pussy but I was scared by parts of this movie and still contend that, next to MAY, its the best genre film of 2003. Although I haven't seen WILLARD or IDENTITY both of which could possibly beat it.
DRACULA 2000 - Pure entertainment from start to finish. It didnt break any new ground but it was better than Bram Stroker's DRACULA (1992)
EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC - Mainly the same reasons as BW2. People complain about the plot not making sense but I understood it perfectly.
THE HAUNTING (99) - Good cast, GREAT location, fun movie. I have nothing else to say.
I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER - I liked the island, the cast, the kills and heck there was even some mild suspense. Out of all the post SCREAM slasher sequels this one's the best.
JAWS THE REVENGE -Not a good film per se but it was superior to the overlong JAWS 2 or the monotonous and just plain bad JAWS 3D.

I enjoyed most of the movies mentioned, if I saw them. Urban Legends 2, Blair Witch 2, Valentine and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, I wouldn't watch again (considering I didn't like them too much), but the rest are fine.
I'm gonna get some stale popcorn thrown at me, but I really enjoyed Mangler 2, and everybody else seems to think it's the worst flick ever made. I thought it was much better than the first. In any case, if that's the worst flick you've seen, then count yourself lucky.

Man, I know people seriously dis HALLOWEEN III, but I get a kick out of the film every time I watch it. That ending is truly disturbing!
I'm one of the few that wish the series had gone on to tell a completely different story every year, with Halloween the holiday as a backdrop to the narrative.

Jason X...But not becuz of the horror aspect more becuz of the stupidity of the people in it and those two broads in the sleeping bag...That shit was funny.

-Valentine--like the soundtrack
-the Hellraiser with Terry Farrell as the news reporter
-Halloween III--should've been called something else to keep from being compared to you know what
and the eurotrash of the Blind Dead Series, The Devil's Nightmare, and Horror Rises from the Tomb.

Halloween: Ressurrection
I actually get a lot of casual fans who say they like this one. When I talk to a lot of the hardcore horro fans, a lot of them have numerous bad things to say about this one. It's really my third favorite in the series. It's right behind the Original and PArt 4.

Pet Semetary 2. I know it's not too great, but I watch it from beginning to end everytime it's on.
Sleepwalkers is another.
