Has anyone seen this Nightmarish movie done by werner herzog?

This movie is just flat out insanse. it involves a land where everyone is a midget and the whole story takes place in an institution that is thrown into total anarchy by it's residents while most of the staff is gone except one.

Even dwarves start small is not an easy film to watch by far, In it you'll see*spoilers**************************

cannibal chickens eating their own kind, A slaughtered pig being suckled by all it's piglets (THis scene alone almost made me sell the movie, but I just can't do it, I love this movie too much), chicken being thrown by midgets through windows, as well as a monkey tied to a cross in one huge nightmare of a midget parade. *end spoilers********* Those are just some of the glimpses of the horrifying acts these little people bring down up that small piece of land with their anger at the world. The whole movie has a point and that's when people are oppressed they lash out at everything around them, Herzog just uses little people to convey this in a scarier more dream like setting.

I can't recomend this movie enough to fans of the obscure but go in there with fair warning this movie does not depict a pretty place, this is no oz.

I don't believe I've ever wanted to see ANY film MORE than I want to see this one.

I mean that from the bottom of "me 'eart"...;)

Seriously, this film looks completely fucking awesome, and I shall be keeping my peepers peeled.

A fun story about the filming of the movie:

Herzog felt bad about all the hard work he put the midgets through while filming the film, one of them was even hospitalized from getting hurt in "the car scene" so herzog promised them since they put up with so much for him he would jump into some sharp bramble bushes naked for them. Well when filming stopped herzog stripped down and jumped into a bunch of thorn bushes much to the amusement of the midgets....

That is some fucking funny shite!!!

This movie sounds like a seriously fucked up bad trip sort of thing. I'm intrigued enough to seek it out but i'm concerned about the animal cruelty that you allude to in your post Bowiee. I find stuff like that difficult to watch. Is it simulated or real?

I can't stand animal cruelity and there are some scenes that cross the line here. THis about the only movie I can watch where it goes on for some odd reason. *spoilers*****
The pig was slaughtered by a professional and butchered after the take, chickens are literally thrown through glass windows and I'm sure they arn't to thrilled about it, THe monkey ont he cross wasn't hurt at all just tied down with ribbon, he looked mostly just znnoyed at the situation of being tied to a cross and paraded around by wee folk. So there is some animal cruelity and even herzog admits he crossed the line but what is left is a great picture of madness.

Hmm...sounds like i'll be able to handle it. Cannibal Holocaust levels of animal cruelty i'm unable to watch. I can handle the sacrifice scene in Apocalypse Now though. This doesn't sound much worse than that.
