Just watched the trailer for this after a friend of mine raved about the trailer that she saw before Le Divorce....
Looks pretty good... had no idea Woody Allen was doing another movie...also stars Christina Ricci, Jason Biggs and Jimmy Fallon...
Should be a good ride. I love the line "I can't believe I feel in love with a smoker"... CLASSIC!
Anyone else seen this?

Trailer is SO funny... she cracks me up.
It's about a neurotic girl (Ricci) and the guy that falls in love with her (Biggs) and how she makes his life incredibly difficult. Looks like a quircky, romantic movie... just what'd u expect from Woody Allen.
Here are some clips that I found on Coming Soon.

Being one of the biggest Allen fans, I'll be travelling to see this movie with fellow Allen fan, bob. :D
But seriously, Allen could do no wrong, and it seems interesting. Plus, it will be interesting to see Biggs in a Post American Pie/ Boys and Girls movie; something serious. Plus, Jimmy Fallon....come on, man, it will be good.

The trailer is so bad I couldn't believe it, but the movie should be better. Woody Allen needs another hit, but the advertising for this movie is too terrible for commercial success.

As usual, I agree with you on this, except for one thing: Ontario's gotta be nicer than Denver, so we'll meet up in your neighborhood, eh?;)

Because the trailer made the film look like Ricci's character basically annoys the heck out of Biggs. Making a main character in your film unlikable before the film is even released is readying the nails for the coffin.

Here's a story I found. Great buzz on the great-looking AE...a British reporter even compared it to Annie Hall. Jesus, we can only hope it's that good...
SMILE OR 'ELSE'
By RUSSELL SCOTT SMITH
WOODY Allen is back.
Manhattan's best- known director blew it with his last two movies, "Curse of the Jade Scorpion" and "Hollywood Ending," which disappointed critics and turned off audiences.
But if the reaction at the Venice Film Festival is to be believed, Woody should win back fans with "Anything Else," a new comedy starring Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci that premiered to raves yesterday.
"We're back to the good old Woody Allen," one critic said after the Venice press preview.
"It's funny and light - a lot like 'Annie Hall,' " said a British reporter who caught the screening.
"Fans who are nostalgic for the old Woody Allen will be happy with it."
Contrary to rumors, the 67-year-old Allen does not romance 22-year-old Ricci in the film, which opens in the U.S. Sept. 19. He relinquishes that honor to "American Pie" star Biggs, who plays a joke writer named Jerry.
Not that it's such an honor.
Ricci plays Jerry's flighty girlfriend Amanda, an Annie Hall type who radiates erotic energy, but is too neurotic to actually have sex - at least with Jerry.
"She's the ultimate nightmare girlfriend," Ricci says. "The quintessential Woody Allen girl."
The film's distributor, DreamWorks, is marketing "Anything Else" as a Biggs/Ricci romantic comedy, rather than a Woody Allen film.
The trailer, now in theaters, avoids showing Allen's familiar face, even though he co-stars as Jerry's paranoid mentor, who has become obsessed with self-defense post-9/11.
"DreamWorks recognizes that Woody Allen appeals to a very narrow audience," says Martin Grove, columnist for the online Hollywood Reporter. "A romantic comedy appeals to a much broader market."
Allen is also hard-selling the film to his core audience of film buffs.
He usually skips premieres, but flew to Venice by private jet yesterday to attend the screening and meet with reporters.
"Woody's doing whatever he can," Grove says. "He needs a hit - and soon - if he's going to get back on the pedestal that Hollywood had put him on."

Personally, I'm thinking this could be the first good thing Biggs has done besides the first two Pie movies. And Ricci.... got... HOT!

I'll go and see this just for the "Ricci" factor. I'm a big Woody Allen fan, but I must admit that the trailer really had a "been there, done that" vibe for me.

The TV spots still look terrible, except the ones that feature Woody Allen. This will flop because it's an R-rated comedy with no appeal.

This trailer actually made me laugh a lot. Seeing as how my ass is single and will most likely stay that way while it's in theaters, I doubt I'll see it, but perhaps I'll rent it one day inbetween my anger bouts

I think it looks pretty funny. Christina Ricci looks uber hot and both her and Biggs look like there having a greta time in the trailer. If i dont catch this in theaters its a must rent.

Christina Ricci has got to be THEE (with an extra e) most gorgeous actress in the business today...Oh yeah, she's a pretty good actress too. I am obsessed with her, she will be mine someday...
Oh yeah, the movie looks pretty cool. Haven't seen many Allen films though (only Annie Hall which was brilliant, Mighty Aphrodite which was good and The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion which was average), what others would you recommend?

That's great to hear... I had a feeling this would be a good 'ol Woody Allen comedy.. and Biggs, Ricchi and Falon I'm sure will make it even funnier.
Can't wait to see it this weekend! Anyone see any early screenings yet?

You didn't even laugh at the part where she was talking about how she ate dinner...seriously I thought that was classic....I think Ricci at least will be really good in this- but evenso, as I am in the group that liked the trailer I am excited!

No, I thought that was a terrible line.
By the way, in the Current Movie thread, there is a review of this movie from a fellow schmoe, giving it a 5/10.

Well ok...thanks for pointing to the new thread...now that its opening today...
I guess we differ on that line...to me it was classic as it touched to something that I think many girls have experience before in their lives and I found that humorous...

Personally, I am a bit tired of Woody Allen's schtick. All of his movies in recent years have been exactly the same and running the same old joke into the ground. I would rather watch Annie Hall for the 500th time than sit through his newer movies.
