View Full Version : Sad, sad horror news for me.

I just found out today that on Saturday August 30th, my towns drive-in is having their annual 'Dusk till Dawn' show. Meaning, starting at 8 at night, until 6 the next morning, they will show 4 movies in a row. The new thing this year is that they will be doing a first ever 'Horror Movie Dusk till Dawn'.
Heres the line up:
28 Days Later
Freddy vs. Jason
Jeepers Creepers 2
Wrong Turn
Whats really amazing about this is the fact that, for a full night of movies, 4 movies to be exact, the admission price is still the normal price of $6.
Heres the bad news, I found out that I have to work 330-Midnight that day, and will be unable to attend the "Horror Fest" like I so badly want to. Im none too happy about this, considering im a huge movie fan, a horror lover, and the fact that this is the first time ever they are doing a 'Horror Dusk till Dawn".
Maybe I should just call off work that day. ;)

You should TOTALLY call in sick... The local drive-in here is afraid of horror movies it seems. I would kill to go to that man! DO IT!

trade shifts, talk to the boss, be sick do whatever you have to do.
On your deathbed you won't wish you'd have worked more... but you will regret missing an AWESOME opportunity like this.
PS. There are NO drive in theaters in So Cal anymore, you may never get another opportunity

Its ALL about the stomach problems! No one EVER questions a stomach ailment. You just tell them that bad things are going on and they wont even come near you for a week! Just dont advertise the big night to anyone at work....they will catch on...:)
Plus the flu always works. You can combine the two.
I couldnt miss that lineup of flicks.

Ok, here is how to fake a strep throat/headache/runny nose:
1. Repeatly smack yourself in the head.
2. While lay on a bed, lie on your back, with your head dangling off the side of it. This is causing the blood to rush to your head.

THey're few and far between. Theatres took the strength out of them. Actually, Carmike was the first real killer. They were the first to actually expand with the purpose of taking them out. I think it's kind of fitting that they're losing out to the Megaplexes that are popping up like crazy now. THe Carmikes in the Pittsburgh area are all either closing or becoming bargain theatres because of a Lowes SUperplex theatre that came into the area.
On the main subject...CALL IN SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my day picked up. I was originally scheduled to work 330-12 but I went in last night and got my schedule and I found out I only work until 8. So I can go, and only miss a little bit of the first movie. I've already seen all of them, except for JC2, so as long as thats not the first one playing, I'll be ok. Now I just gotta find someone to go with me though.
Oh yeah, and thanks for all the excuses for calling off. Now I have some to use instead of the "im sick with no explanation' call off I've done a couple times.

hbkhhh45: Yeah there are a few, but they're nothing like the golden days of drive-in's. I work at one, we just play hollywood drivel a few weeks after it is in theaters. Double bill for like 9 bucks. We played 28 Days later though, I think we get the hollywood/Bigger horror films which is cool though.

you willing to kill for horror movies is why they are afraid... :)
but yeah drive ins are long gone here and with reason, the dickhead teens and adults of today in this world cant be mature enough to handle a movie in cars.

Uh...anyway :D
We have a drive in here, although I dont know how long it will last. Then again the line does seem to be pretty long there so hey, it must be doing alright in business.
We never have any horror nights or marathons of any kind though
Glad it all worked out for you...for the record I would have called in sick with stomach problems. Faking a cough always is obvious ;)
