This a good DVD player?

I'm looking for a new DVD player that is region free. This one looks good enough for me, but I would like more opinions, the only DVD player I have right now is well...my Playstation 2, the damn thing won't play some DVD movies that I bought (and thus..haven't watched), like Spy Game and Mulholland Dr., but those same movies works on others people PS2, and sometimes there is a movie that'll work on my PS2...but not my friends, anyways. I just wanted an opinion on this particular DVD if ya don't mind. It doesn't have progressive scan though, but I can import some animes and japanese films that I've been wanting to see (like Ring series)

Progressive scan is only important if you're watching on a screen bigger than 50in in my opinion. I have a projecter and I prefer the grainy look my DVD player puts out since it's more like being at the cinema.

It might be worth your while looking at a Home cinema kit, the extra few hundred dollars would be well worth it for DTS or DD sound.

This unit has been hacked with a chip place inside the machine, I'm not sure if this is legal, my LG DV-3500 didn't leave the box able to play VCDs and anything other than R2 discs but a code typed in by remote allows me to alter the region and play VCDs (macrovision can't be disabled though). Another thing about this machine is that it has been specified to region 0, which means it has no region, RCE (region coding enhanced) discs should not work on this.

Do you trust this retailer? I wouldn't! But in the end it's your decision...

I have this player and really like it. It can play all the vcds I throw at it and does a pretty good job. The only problem is on some Dual Layer discs it freezes when is changes layers. It's not a big deal cuz u just turn it off and everythings fine. IT'S NOt chipped. Go to vcdhelp.com to see how to change the region under region hacks and it can play RCE discs because u can choose the region by doing the region hacks. I bought mine though for less than $100!
