The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy
Release Date: November 26th
It sucks that this movie was so far away from coming out the trailor looked AWESOME IMO, I think it is promising it might be a great movie that will pull up Eddie Murphys carrer. if POTC was good then HM should be awesome IMO, Some parts may have a jump or two from scary scenes i will 100% see this movie if its PG-13 that should mean it has some potential to it. But who knows!! I tried seeign if ajything was avilible for download off of Kazzaa, but all that pops up is music from the actual ride i wantr like the movie or somethin for download. If you have any pics please post them thanks.

I don't think I'll be seeing this film, it just looks like another Eddie Murphy family flick, it's getting old.

I think it's supposed to be scary. Sure, it isn't going to be uber-gory or anything, but I do think it wants to be a creepy, with a few laughs, horror ride.
Also, I am dying to see The Haunted Mansion! Unlike many, I still dig Murphy, despite a few bad choices. I think he still has the ability to be hilarious in him, and this flick looks bad-ass. I'll definitely be there opening night!!!

This film is actually listed as a comedy by apple-trailers. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a typical disney family picture. The preview does look pretty funny though. Murphy has definately fallen off a bit but this could be good. I'll see what people say about it when it opens and then make my decision as far as whether I will see this in the theatre or on DVD.
Here is the trailer if anyone is interested:

i think the movie would be good if it wasn't a comedy. the fact that eddie murphy is involved makes it look much worse also.

Agreed, although the teasers and synopsis seem pretty awesome, Eddie Murphy has a long way to go as far as regaining my faith in him as an actor -- considering so many skanky projects he's done recently.

I saw the trailer online and I thought it was funny. I LOVE the ride and I learned from seeing Pirates of the Carribbean that they actually can make a good movie from a ride.

Blah! I looks ok, but why are we getting movies based on RIDES at Disneyland!? What's next, Space Mountain!?

I want ot see this for the set! The house looks awesome! And the special effects too. I don't care if it's bad or not, at least it'll give me some good ideas for paintings.

It actually looks good, possibly a career comeback for Murphy who has been on a downward spiral in the last few years.

I'm excited for this movie, I think it is going to do big things at the box office. Riding off the success of POTC, HM is going to do really well. Eddie Murphy is going to be a first rate star again after this movie.

I agree with your point about Pirates... that was based off of a ride, and I was VERY skeptical, but I really liked it.
I'm thinking the same about this one.

I may be alone on this, but I think this movie looks fucking terrible. The shear fact that Eddie Murphy is in this makes me not want to see it (that's a first), but also that it doesn't look fun, it doesn't look scary, and just looks like an utter bore. Daddy Day Care showed he can still get great BO grosses, regardless of the quality, but I doubt this'll catapult him to greatness again

At first, I thought it looked awful, plain awful. But the trailer has really grown on me since, and you know what? I'll be there, hoping for a great time.

Why didn't open for the halloween season? Come on is it really a Thanksgiving themed movie or Christmas Holiday movie?
Plus I would really want to see it more if Eddie Murphy wasn't in it, i just think it was a bad idea to cast him in it and ruin one of the best Disney Land/world attractions made to film. :D

I think the movie looks good. Eddie Murphy is a good comedian and that works well in these family genre roles. Not my preference for him, but I think the movie will still be enjoyable.

I think they are releasing this movie at Thanksgiving instead of Halloween is because its a family movie. That will probably turn out to be a good decision in terms of the box office.

Man , does Murphy get more annoying with each role or is it just me . I can sum up this film quite easily . Strictly for kids nonsense .

What about the rest of the cast... I think they'll be great, Jennifer Tilly and Terrance Stamp ....

Terence Stamp was great in the Limey.
he was pretty funny in bowfinger too.
its pretty obvious he can play a large range of roles so I think he will be good in HM.

I can tell this is going to be such a bad, bad movie because of the big laugh out loud best joke with Eddie saying "You wait for me to leave before you bring out the spirits" or whatever. People, a hysterical black person jive talking in a tense situation is sooo unfunny! What's that other trailer for the movie with that big black woman saying she's "gonna stick so-and-so up your ass?" Another very unfunny joke. So cheap and stupid. Hollywood, black sassiness isn't funny anymore!!!

Yeah, you're right Stamp was good in Bowfinger. He looks great in the trailer.. great makeup, I wonder if he's dead or alive...

Yeah, I'm not sure I would have pictured Jennifer Tilly in the role, but I still think she will do a good job. What else has she been in recently?

I'm not sure about recently, I know she was in Liar Liar and a voice in Monsters, inc
I think she's pretty funny... she's hilarious in the trailer for HM

I may check this one out next week, who knows it could be another great Disney attraction based film like Pirates of the Carribean, or it could be a lousy one like The Country Bears, only time will tell.
And here's hoping that Eddie Murphy can pull himself outta this slump he's been in.

Eddie Murphy movies are bad. I really like his Beverly Hills Cop movies. He should rethink the movies he is signing on to do.
He needs to take on a more serious action movie. Action movie will help his career.

I seriously just think it's so unfair to say Eddie Murphy movies are bad (especially when people then list a movie of his they liked). He is funny... he's proven that in the past. Maybe some bad roles in the past, but he's funny.. he by no means ruins any movie.

The Mercury News - 'Haunted Mansion' is a fun ride
by Glenn Lovell
Lest you mistake the lineage of ``The Haunted Mansion,'' starring an agreeably nutty Eddie Murphy, the good folks at Disney have included an opening credit that reads ``based on Walt Disney's `Haunted Mansion' '' ride at Disneyland. With the surprise success of the fun factory's ``Pirates of the Caribbean'' movie, there's no more pussyfooting around: Amusement park attractions are now as legitimate a source of screen merriment as are bad sitcoms and the classics of Robert Louis Stevenson.
Cleverly designed -- with the obligatory secret passageways and haunted crypts -- and about as scary as a dust devil, this post-Halloween entry clearly is meant for the very young. The ghosts, led by Terence Stamp, are amusingly over the top, the ectoplasmic occurrences are cartoon ka-RAA-zy and the scabrous undead (compliments of Oscar winner Rick Baker) are straight out of Michael Jackson's ``Thriller'' video.
Murphy and Marsha Thomason play husband-and-wife real estate agents who, en route to a quality-time vacation with their kids (Marc John Jefferies and Aree Davis), stop by the recently listed Gracey mansion and adjoining cemetery. Inside are the eternally cursed master, Edward Gracey (Nathaniel Parker), his cadaverous butler (Stamp), a couple of flighty servants (Dina Waters and Wallace Shawn) and, in the music room, a mouthy crystal ball (Jennifer Tilly).
This amusing time-killer, directed by Rob Minkoff (``Stuart Little''), features many of the Disneyland mansion's popular fixtures, including holographic portraits and harmonizing marble busts. Studio founder Walt Disney turning over in his grave -- after Murphy says at the front door, ``Look at the size of these knockers'' -- is a special added attraction.

Mabey some spoilers, if you're too particular...............
I saw it over the weekend. It's not the best movie in the world, but it's a good family film. The begining is REALLY beautiful. And the set and costumes are acurate and gorgeous. The story line is your basic tragic love story, but they make it work. The end was too mushy for me. But on the whole, you should see it at least once.
