I was just wondering how you guys go about watching your DVDs. Where you watch, when and who with.
generally I have an 8pm rule I rarely watch a movie anywhere before eight becuase I like to muse about the movie and then go to bed.
If I've just bought a DVD then I'll watch it downstairs with my parents on the projector, starting at 8.
If I'm rewatching a DVD then I'll start it at 10pm and I'll watch it in my room on a tiddly 14" screen.
This is really out of necessity more than anything else, if I had my way I'd move my bed into the living room and watch DVDs at 10pm in bed on the projector with surround sound.
so what do you do?

If it's a film that everyone likes then we will watch it down stairs but if it's a film for me then i will watch it upstairs on my Playstation 2, and normally i will watch it as soon as i get it.

I like to watch movies at night. If I have company that night, we'll all sit around the tv and watch some dvd. Rarely, I watch a movie after school. And for a brand new DVD, I watch it as soon as I get it. Whether it's 3 pm or 11 pm. Yesterday though, I watched the 2nd half of Shawshank Redemption since I had to finish it off and I somehow managed sitting through SPR, which I started at about 5.
I always watch DVDs in the living room, on a 32" widescreen TV. I usually watch them myself, but if I think my parents or sister will like it I'll ask them if they want to watch it.
Most of the time I watch new DVDs the day I get them, and start watching it around 9pm.

Bob: you have a projector? way cool!!! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
i usually watch my new dvds right as soon as i get home after school (i buy them at lunch cuz i can walk to Futureshop, Rogers, etc) since i've usually seen the movies already in theatres...
but movies like The Others and A Beautiful Mind (two of my favourites this year) i'm planning on watching late night just cuz i love watching my fav movies at nite.
i watch on a 53" high definition sony tv, with a progressive scan dvd player.
if my bro is using the big tv, then i go up to my parent's room and watch the movies there on their much smaller tv.

I watch my movies on a 65" Mitsubishi HDTV, but I have been behind on my movie watching. In the past month I have bought about 20 movies and I have only been able to watch one.
But usually my wife and I will sit down together and watch them around eight. But if its something she doesnt want to watch (Kung Fu and Horror movies) I wait until she goes to bed.

I usually watch DVDs in the morning and evening, usually by myself (though occasionally with a friend or family member).

I just use a regular digital projector and link it to my DVD player with a S-video cable. It cost about $3000 but my dad's work payed for it http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

ok, its not really what your asking, but i find that i go in dvd buying/watching phases. for instance, a month ago i was buying up atom egoyan and robert altman dvds, two weeks ago it was kubrick things. usually ill have 2 or 3 dvds of the director in question, but then one of their films will spark something that makes me want all of their films. egoyan it was sweet hereafter and altman it was the player. now after seeing Mullholland Drive yesterday i had to buy "twin peaks: fire walk with me" today and i plan on buying more lynch stuff(excluding the SE of blue velvet coming in june) this week, like the book lynch on lynch. just my .02$
