Torque - 35 mil. Sounds too much like Biker Boyz for my tastes and I think others will feel the same.
Barbershop 2 - 100 mil. Original was a big hit and there's no reason to think that the sequel won't be too.
Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights - 40 mil. I don't think that this will catch on with very many people as it could hardly be considered a true sequel.
Starsky and Hutch - 80 mil. Classic tv shows generally make alot of money in their first big screen version as the public doesn't know what to expect. Plus, Stiller and Wilson have their fans too which will get those unfamiliar with the show in theatres.
Agent Cody Banks 2 - 55 mil. The original was well received by the public and the sequel should benefit.
Scooby Doo 2 - 120 mil. Many disliked the original which leads me to believe that the sequel won't match the original's success.
The Whole Ten Yards - 45 mil. Am I the only one getting an Analyze That vibe from the trailers? Look how that performed.
The Punisher - 90 mil. It will likely be a dark film that should benefit from being a relatively well-known commodity. If the quality is there, it could perform better than my prediction.
Van Helsing - 150 mil. I think that this film will likely not be a very good film as The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, from the same director, weren't great and that leads me to believe that this film won't be either.
Shrek 2 - 300 mil. The original was huge and this one will be too.
Troy - 200 mil. A good cast and a well-known story, plus likely Oscar buzz should propel Troy at the box office.
Harry Pottter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - 290 mil. These films always do well.
The Chronicles of Riddick - 70 mil. I don't remember Pitch Black being a huge hit but Diesel is a much bigger star now so that'll help this science fiction film.
Garfield - 120 mil. A beloved comic that has stood the test of time should be a no brainer for many as Scooby Doo, also based on a beloved property, made over 100 million and I have a feeling that Garfield will be a better film than Scooby was.
Spider - Man 2 - 395 mil. As most sequels fail to match the original, this one should follow suit although I doubt that Sony will care too much when it's still a gigantic hit.
I, Robot - 80 mil. Science fiction films are a hard sell oftentimes to the general public and this should be no different. The exception of course, is The Matrix and its sequels but this is no Matrix.
A Cinderella Story - 40 mil. Well-known basis and Duff is a rising star but I just don't have that good of a feeling for this film.
The Bourne Supremacy - 134 mil. The original was well-liked by many and Matt Damon is still a relatively big star.
Mad Max: Fury Road - 110 mil. It's difficult for me to bet against Mel Gibson with any film he appears in and this belated sequel is no different.
Catwoman - 150 mil. Berry is a star and the material is of course well-known, but anything to do with Batman might suffer backlash because the last few films have been terrible. Still, this film will do quite well for itself.
Yu-Gi-Oh - 60 mil. Like Pokemon, I see this as a fading fad that might have started to fade by the time the film is released.
Constantine - 60 mil. Reeves star power has risen and its hard to doubt him.
Sharkslayer - 300 mil. These films always do well.
Son of the Mask - 30 mil. I'm getting a Dumb and Dumberer vibe with this cash-in sequel/prequel of sorts.
Alexander - 250 mil. Well-known story and cast will make this do well.
The Incredibles - 400 mil. One word - Pixar.
The Ring 2 - 170 mil. The original was a word of mouth hit and the sequel will benefit greatly from that and the good reception it got on DVD will also help.
The Polar Express - 180 mil. Tom Hanks makes every project turn to gold.
Ocean's Twelve - 140 mil. The original was huge and this will be also.
Lemony Snickett - 120 mil. Jim Carrey in the right vehicle is bankable.
The Aviator - 70 mil. This could easily perform better or worse than my prediction based on Oscar buzz and critical reception.
King Arthur - 240 mil. Jerry Bruckheimer, like Hanks, turns everything gold lately.

Yu-Gi-Oh is being considered a tentpole release??!!! LMAO :p
TORQUE (Ice Cube, Martin Henderson) - Action
Final Gross: $40 million...
Comments: I'm guessing better than Biker Boyz, but has nowhere near the star power of Fast & the Furious, etc so way below that as well, with the exception of Ice Cube.
BARBERSHOP 2 (Ice Cube, Queen Latifah) - Comedy
Final Gross: $100 million
Comments: Virtually same everything, excluding the director. I'm making a bold guess I would say, since the first made just over $70 million, but people will be back who saw the first, and they'll have others who saw the first one on video too. The key thing here is word of mouth again though. And it better be set in a barbershop again...I took a look at the grosses for Friday and Next Friday, and they jumped drastically for Next Friday, so I'm predicting something like that for this too.
DIRTY DANCING: HAVANA NIGHTS (Romola Garai) - Drama
Final Gross: $28 million
Comments: It's been too long between franchises. The only thing that's going for this is that it has some fairly new faces (problem tho: way too new...Diego Luna is just starting to do well, and outside of the film world, probably not known rite now. January Jones is just starting to do well as well with movies like American Wedding, etc, ditto for the rest. Swayze being back is good, but it's not like he's a big name actor anymore.
STARSKY AND HUTCH (Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson) - Comedy
Final Gross: $90 million
Comments: I took the gross from Zoolander, doubled it for the extra audience from fans of the original show, and the fact that it could become a franchise.
AGENT CODY BANKS 2 (Frankie Muniz, Keith David) - Action
Final Gross: $40 million
Comments: Checking out the gross between Spy Kids and Spy Kids 2, it went down, so I'm taking a guess that that will happen for this as well, since it's a movie targeted to younger people. Though it shouldn't be too much less.
SCOOBY DOO 2 (Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard) - Comedy
Final Gross: $105 million
Comments: Simple reasons why the gross is significantly lower. Word of mouth from first one was bad, the big demand for a Scooby Doo movie is now over since the first one came out already, and sequels aren't that hot rite now, (and probably won't be then either).
THE WHOLE TEN YARDS (Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry) - Comedy
Final Gross: $57 million
Comments: I haven't seen the original, don't know much about it, but people seemed to enjoy the first one. Still cautious since sequels are as of right now, bad news, so I'll put it at even with the original.
THE PUNISHER (Thomas Jane, John Travolta) - Action
Final Gross: $90 million
Comments: It's a comic book movie so it's bound to do pretty good. But as far as I know, The Punisher doesn't really have any of the big things associated with comic book heros so it might be more of an upward struggle for this to do well. Some name actors can't hurt, though Travolta is hardly box-office gold right now. I expect it to do slightly worse than Daredevil because that had a bit more star power, and was more like a comic book movie. This'll probably make less money to begin with, and load on more as it goes on imo. Though if it gets great word of mouth, or positive reviews, you can be sure it will pass $100 million. but right now, my guess is $90 mill.
VAN HELSING (Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale) - Action
Final Gross: $200 million
Comments: Another of my bold guesses. But Sommers did amazingly with The Mummy, and this project looks even better. It just feels like a tentpole style movie already. And Jackman is doing very well for himself right now, with prime billing the X-Men movies.
SHREK 2 (Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz) - Comedy/Family
Final Gross: $270 million
Comments: All computer animated movies do well. But this one has an uphill battle, it has to live up to the original. The key here is if it's good, then it'll do amazingly. But i'm only putting the gross at around the same level as the other one, because getting up into such high territory is hard to predict. the higher it goes, the harder it is to make more money. It's looking up tho, since it's being written by the same team who did Shrek 1, Pirates of hte Caribbean, and Mask of Zorro.
TROY (Brad Pitt) - Action
Final Gross: $210 million
Comments: If Gladiator was able to make $180something million, then Troy should surely inch past that. Troy has a bigger, more well known cast, especially Bana, hot off of Hulk (though that was not well received, at least it increased knowledge of who he is), and Orlando Bloom, who probably helped pull in a sizable amount of teenage girls for the opening of Pirates (tho Depp carried it all the way). Not to mention Brad Pitt, a great director and screenwriter (25th Hour), and positive reviews galore so far. This should just peak past Gladiator. (This is also the movie i most want to see from 2004)
HARRY POTTER & THE PRIZONER OF AZKABAN - Family
Final Gross: $290 million
Comments: I say between the first and second movie grosses. Problems? We're being oversaturated with HP so people might get sick of it, and the demand isn't nearly as great anymore as it was when the first movie came out. But both have solidly entertained and the second movie is also better. Not only that, but Prisoner of Azkaban is regarded by many as a favorite, or second favorite in the series. I know I, for one, will be watching this in theatres, and i didn't watch either of the other two in theatres. So my guess is it'll even out, and make somewhere in between the two.
THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK (Vin Diesel) - Action
Final Gross: $60 million
Comments: It'll make more than the first since many people saw the first on dvd and video and liked it. And it has Diesel back on, that's really all that matters. But I've heard it changes direction and is not really horror anymore, so will people accept this fully? I can't say for sure, so I say it'll make more money, but not blockbuster size money.
GARFIELD (Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt) - Family
Final Gross: $165 million
Comments: I guess the closest comparison is Scooby Doo right now so I say slightly more than Scooby Doo made ( i wonder how much Bill Murray will influence the box-office despite never being present in the actual movie?...) as it has around that level, if not more of popularity. AND i mean come on, it has to be able to get even a bit better reviews than Scooby Doo did.
SPIDER-MAN 2 (Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst) - Action
Final Gross: $380 million
Comments: I've put it down as less, but mainly because of the sequel backlash rite now, and 2. not as much demand anymore for Spider-Man since a lot of the reason the first one did amazingly was because there were so many people who had waited a long tiem for a Spider-Man movie. But also, the first one was held up by positive reviews and word of mouth, and I expect this to do the same. Posters look great, even surpassing the first one's promotional materials, and with Chabon writing the script (i'm reading his book adventures of kavalier and clay rite now, great vbook), it's doubtful it'll miss. Still a huge success.
I, ROBOT (Will Smith) - Action
Final Gross: $150 million
Comments: Smith does well usually in action sc-fi movies, but this is going to be a bit more unusual, though at least it'll have a built in fan base. But fans might also get disappointed that the movie is not really based on any particular story in the collection, but rather all of them sort of mixed together (or so i've heard). I was originally predicting this would tank, but I doubt that'll happen. MIB 2 didn't do that well, but Bad Boys 2 has put Smith back in shape. As well, this will hopefully be more intelligent than MIB 2 was so better word of mouth could help it.
A CINDERELLA STORY (Hilary Duff) - Family
Final Gross: $30 million
Comments: This won't be a Princess Diaries style hit imo, barely anyone known, just Duff, and The Lizzie McGuire movie had a built in audience already as well (made around $40something million). THe movie probably won't generate any positive reviews considering it's Kumble writing again (I think he got lucky with Cruel Intentions...CI2 and Sweetest Thing? blech!) so no help there.
THE BOURNE SUPREMACY (Matt Damon) - Action
Final Gross: $150 million
Comments: Not Liman at the helm anymore, but still an interesting (quality) choice of a director all the same. Most everyone else is back so that's good, and Bourne Identity was the largest hit ever on home video, or so I heard. So I predict a bigger gross than the first one.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (Mel Gibson) - Action
Final Gross: $65 million
Comments: The first ones weren't big hits at all, and the series ended on a less good installment. However, inflation and time (in which people forget about the bad stuff and remember the good) is on their side, so $65 million doesn't seem unreasonable, especially with Gibson being pretty hot in hollywood still.
CATWOMAN (Halle Berry, Sharon Stone) - Adventure
Final Gross: $120 million
Comments: I saw no reason for this to succeed at first, but tie-ins with Batman should help, and the chance to see two sexpots in one movie? I think that will be enough to propel this movie pretty far.
YU-GI-OH (Animated) - Action/Family
Final Gross: $60 million
Comments: I don't see how this would be regarded as a tentpole movie, but unfortunately it should do decently and spawn such installments as Yu-Gi-Oh: The 4th Movie: the Cards Strike Back. Seriously though, Pokemon - at lea sthe first movie, did pretty good cuz of the Pokemon frenzy then. There is a frenzy for Yu-Gi-Oh rite now, tho to a lesser extent, so that's why I think $60 million is reasonable.
CONSTANTINE (Keanu Reeves) - Drama
Final Gross: $110 million
Comments: I see it doing better than LXG (Alan Moore again) thanks to Reeves fairly consistent popularity with Speed, and then the huge Matrix trilogy. Also, LXG didn't do well cuz the film was (supposedly) bad, and word of mouth wasn't good, so if this one has good word of mouth, it could do better.
SHARKSLAYER (Will Smith, Angelina Jolie) - Comedy/Family
Final Gross: $200 million
Comments: All CGI made movies seem to be doing well nowadays, and this one will be no exception, with the voice talent behind it, and one of the directors of Shrek on it. It'll be hard for this to surpass Pixar's creations tho. VERY hard.
SON OF THE MASK (Jamie Kennedy) - Comedy
Final Gross: $25 million
Comments: I don't see this doing very well. It'll only make a couple bucks off the fact that it's a sequel to the Mask,b ut without Carrey, the heart of the first one, this won't take off. Also, just take a look at the other Carrey-turned-other-people franchise - Dumb and Dumber(er). Not good signs.
ALEXANDER (Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie) - Action
Final Gross: $130 million
Comments: Gangs didn't make much, and Scorsese movies don't always do amazingly at box-office. But Farrell, Jolie, and a very good cast willh elp the case as will any awards or buzz it can gather.
THE INCREDIBLES (Craig T. Nelson) - Family
Final Gross: $240 million
Comments: This really doesn't look as good as the other Pixar movies, so I'm predicting less...you never know though. The Iron Giant was terrific, but can that success be translated back to this? At any rate, even it if sucks, it'll still do well cuz it's CGI animated and it's Pixar - and people would refuse ot believe they had a miss on their hands. And anyway, I thought Finding Nemo was gonna be crap, and it turned out amazingly. So...
THE RING 2 (Naomi Watts) - Horror
Final Gross: $100 million
Comments: An unneeded sequel imo. Though I'll still see it. It'll do well, but won't have the buzz that surrounded the first I think. That was one of those big surprises, but a sequel just seems weird for that movie.
THE POLAR EXPRESS (Tom Hanks, Michael Jeter) - Family
Final Gross: $200 million
Comments: It'll be interesting to see how this takes off. I really want it to do well, and I can't wait for it, but I tihnk it'll either be a major disappointment, or a big success in terms of b-o. Either way, we'll see. Right now, I'm opting for success with Hanks involved and all.
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: THE MOVIE (Animated) - Family
Final Gross: $85 million
Comments: The amazing super buzz around this show is phenomenal, everyone seems to love it. In a way, it's like the new "Pokemon" which is what i'm comparing it to in terms of how much it'll make. Both were/are fabulously popular so they're decent comparisons I say.
OCEAN'S TWELVE (George Clooney, Brad Pitt) - Comedy
Final Gross: $200 million
Comments: A slightly higher gross sounds likely: the first one was excellent, and if this one gets all the cast back, and can conjure up the magic a second time, it'll do just as well.
LEMONY SNICKET (Jim Carrey) - Family
Final Gross: $120 million
Comments: This is sort of like the lesser known Harry Potter in a way - though not at all. It's definitely more wicked and more of a sadisticly dark "children's" series. It's fantastic nonetheless, and Carrey would play a great villain. I think it'll rely on the popularity of the books, and Carrey's performance as Count Olaf to carry the film to success.
AVIATOR (Leonardo DiCaprio, Gwen Stefani) - Drama
Final Gross: $95 million
Comments: I see a GONY situation in terms of b-o, but I think it'll fair better, and will have better buzz.
KING ARTHUR (Clive Owen) - Action
Final Gross: $120 million
Comments: I see this doing well, but not amazingly well. Keira Knightley's a new fresh face, but not any big, big stars to pull people in. We'll see.
Well, that took me more than an hour right there to write up that entire thing, commentary and all lol.

Final Gross: $111 million
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: THE MOVIE (Animated) - Family
Final Gross: $101 million (the franchise is huge, I can't see it making much less)
OCEAN'S TWELVE (George Clooney, Brad Pitt) - Comedy
Final Gross: $203 million
LEMONY SNICKET (Jim Carrey) - Family
Final Gross: $121 million
THE AVIATOR (Leonardo DiCaprio, Gwen Stefani) - Drama
Final Gross: $66 million
KING ARTHUR (Clive Owen) - Action
Final Gross: $201 million
Are these listed in chronological order? If not, I'll have to change some of my predictions...if they are then there's a lot of kids' movies coming out next fall and that will prevent all but a few from being huge.

OK. Seems to me there are five family films and one sorta family film lumped together within less than two months:
Sharkslayer
Son of the Mask (to an extent)
The Incredibles
The Polar Express
Spongebob Squarepants
Lemony Snicket
One or more are bound to do disappointing business....

I do. The cast's superb, I love the Catwoman comic-book character, and the costume, while a tad too S&M-esque, was pretty cool. I'll definitely see it and I'm sure many others will too, even if it's "hated" among movie nerds.

I doubt the general public is interested in a Catwoman spin-off.
