Not surprisingly, the heist remake THE ITALIAN JOB took the top spot this weekend with a healthy $2,843,701. However after its advance screening run it has accumulated $3,622,840. Last week's Number 1, AMERICAN PIE: THE WEDDING, dropped 41% this week, but still managed $1,447,334. After 3 weeks it has taken in $10,118,350. Dropping 30% in its second week, the Ewan McGregor/Renee Zellweger romcom DOWN WITH LOVE added $595,578 to its total, which now sits at $1,769,943. Still performing strong after 6 weeks and maintaining position #4 for a second week, TERMINATOR 3took in $495,880 and has managed $18,228,795, the third highest gross in the charts. TEARS OF THE SUN dropped 37% in its second week with $482,066, taking its total to $1,553,226. IDENTITY continues to hold just outside the Top 5 with $4,016,375. The army satire BUFFALO SOLDIERS starring Joaquin Phoenix and Anna Paquin debuted at an impressive #8 with $181,829. 8 weeks on and CHARLIE'S ANGELS are still holding strong in the Top 10 with a total, so far, of $18,702,789. The poorly received dramedy IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY starring the Douglas clan was only unleashed on 27 screens, but managed a reasonable debut at #11 with $88,008. Critically acclaimed drama NARC dropped 36% in its second week, and only one spot, to earn itself a further $62,480. It has gathered $217,752. Making a surprise rise was the doco TRAVELLING BIRDS which rose 27%, and after 10 weeks it's taken in $1,857,011. Two fo the biggies this year, DADDY DAY CARE and BRUCE ALMIGHTY look likely to come to a close as the films fill out the bottom half of the charts. After 9 weeks, the Eddie Murphy family flick has $14,681,509 to its name, whilst the Jim Carrey/Jennifer Aniston outing is the highst grossing film in the charts with $20,397,703. Crispin Glover's creepy WILLARD failed to make the Top 20, most likely due to it just being dropped in cinemas with no publicity.
THIS WEEK (August 28th): One of the biggest hits of this year makes the swim to Australian shores, FINDING NEMO takes to the screen this week with the voice talents of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Aussie talents Geoffrey Rush, Rove McManus and Barry Humphires. Another film with an Aussie flavour hits cinemas this week, the long-delayed tooth fairy terror pic DARKNESS FALLS starring ex-Buffy babe Emma Caulfield. The second Michael Douglas offering comes to town with the action/comedy THE IN-LAWS, which also features Albert Brooks, Linsay Sloane and Ryan Reynolds. Aussie feature the rage in placid lake featuring Ben Lee (AKA Mr Claire Danes) is on hand, as is Jason Lee and Julia Stiles doing the romantic comedy thing in A GUY THING.

Considering its overseas success, the fact that it is a Disney/Pixar production, it's got family appeal, an Aussie connection, and a bucketload of Publicity behind it, I see FINDING NEMO taking the Top spot next week.
