Just this past weekend, Finding Nemo slid past The Lion King to become the highest-grossing animated movie of all-time. Its US gross so far is $329.8 million, while The Lion King made $328.4 million. In addition, it beat Forrest Gump's gross of $329.5 million, and is currently the 8th-highest-grossing film of all-time (in the U.S., that is.). What do you all think of this?

Ri-fucking-diculous! One of the most overrated films of the year. Sure it had heart but at its core it's just a kids movie, not deserving of such high praise and profits.

Finding Nemo is one of the most entertaining pictures of the year and fully deserves to be the highest-grossing animated film of all-time. Sure, I may think there a few other animated films that are better, it's still a modern classic, and anyone who viewed it and didn't feel a wonderful emotion at least once, needs to check their pulse, to make sure they still have one.

I disagree. It's one of the best movies of the year. I'm glad to see it made this much money more than a lot of crap we've had this summer.

im kind of surprised by the amount of money it made, i mean it passed Lion King - and lion king is recognized by everyone, everyone knows lion king and people still refer to it nowadays, plus theres a music made after it.
i dont see Finding Nemo achieving this status in say 10 years like Lion King has

Really happy for FINDING NEMO, it's a wonderfull film, the best of the year, and it really deserves all the money it got. $300 million is a lot of money, and it only made it in a few months. Imagine how much money it will make on video and DVD.

I'm guessing that Pixar will start releasing their films in summer after The Incredibles which is slated for a fall release.

Interesting stuff. Nemo was ok, not great, but good.

That's sad, really. I mean, it's a very good movie, but there are so many better animated films out there, I mean, even if you went by just computer-animated films, I think Toy Story 1 & 2, Monsters, Inc. and Shrek are all better than Finding Nemo, yet they made it to just $260 million, but Nemo is still goin' strong at $330 million. $70 million more.

I think Finding Nemo deserves it. I am a fan of all the Pixar films, and The Other, regarding how the other films didn't make as much, my guess has to do with possibly the fact that they were released in the fall when lots of great movies usually come out(Oscar race) and many family films(holiday season). Whereas Nemo was released in a lackluster summer that produced few blockbusters, and hardly any other family films, so I think it had a lot less serious competition at the box office.

I thought this was one of the better movies I've seen this year. Outstanding animation, the graphics were great (hey come to think of it, looked kinda like the new star wars movies... Lucas is a dick), and it was very well scripted. The voices were great, good comedy for kids and adults, and who says you can't enjoy a good kid flick now and then. Disney hits another homerun in my opinion.

Finding Nemo was one of my favorites of 2003 so far ...8/10 but I have to say that I liked Monters Inc. alot more though.

Brandon is totally right on this one. It was one of THE WORST summer movie seasons this year and most people just kept going back to Nemo because comparatively it was the better movie of the summer.
Man, Michael Eisner is going to be bawling in his Cheerios when Disney's contract with Pixar runs its course.

Just because its making more money than other animated films does not mean it makes it better than them. People probably went to see it more than once.
