I'm a little indifferent about the cover to the A BEAUTIFUL MIND DVD. I do like it better than a lot of other movie covers or whatever that just have a huge picture of the star on it. This one does, of course, but it's different, it takes a scene right from the movie. I don't like that they don't have Jennifer Connelly's name on the cover, they have Ed Harris' though? Connelly was the one that won the Oscar, the least they could do is give her billing on the cover.
It should say 5 Academy Awards 2001 Including Best Picture...Crowe should have won. Oh well, It just still irks me that he lost while everyone else from the film won. *sigh*
But, I do hear that the disc should be packed with about 6 hours of extras.

Oh yeah? Well you know what really irks me? That A Beautiful Mind won ANYTHING AT ALL! Lord of the Rings should have taken AAAALLLL of the awards. Plus, the LOTR DVD (extended edition) will have 6 hours too, so there!
But this really isn't a post about LOTR, so anyway...yeah, Jennifer Connely is SOOOO much better than Russell Crowe (has anyone seen an old movie called Labyrinth? AWESOME!) and her name should be on the cover. What is that scene anyway? And what is he holding, is that a gun or something?
And what does "The Awards Edition" mean? I saw it on American Beauty too. (sucky movie as well) Does it just mean that the movie won a lot of awards?

You're really acting childish with you're Lord of the Rings behavior ("so there"? ANYWAY). I really hate people like you who hafta bring LOTR into every topic or anything that doesn't have to do with the topic, LOTR has nothing to do with this, so moving on...
I didn't actually say that Connelly was better than Crowe, I just thought that her name should be on the cover as well, since she did help A Beautiful Mind win 4 Oscars.
The picture on the cover is the scene after the car chase scene and where he's in the classroom and he's peeking through the blinds, there's no gun there.
And yes, the awards edition means just what you said.

i agree with you the other, Why did they have to take a scene from the movie on the cover? I do also think that the cover looks, oh i don't know... tacky?
But its the film that counts, and its a darn good one!

I liked the poster better, and they should have Jennifer C. on it! How uninspired.

I like the cover. Simplicity is the key.

The cover looks decent, and as for the extras it's about damn time that a Best Picture winner DVD, (Besides The Godfather extra disc!) added it's Oscar acceptance footage!
And you're right Other, it should say 5 Academy Awards, Russell should've won!

Jennifer Connelly's name isn't even on the cover! Now that pisses me off. She won the most awards for that film, and they could at least put her name there. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

ThereWolf totally agrees with you there Steve, she won over Russell and they put Ed Harris' name on the cover instead!

It all comes down to popularity and such. Ed Harris is known to more people than Jennifer is.
It's just like with the WHAT LIES BENEATH poster. Michelle Pfieffer is on screen much, much longer than Harrison Ford is (probably like a half hour longer). The movie revolved around her character and she's in like every scene, yet guess who gets top billing? Harrison Ford's name comes first and Michelle's second.

Yeah, I don't mind the cover...it's decent, but like bluntman, i'd rather it didn't have the gold border around it...
still, my favourite movie from 2001...
o, and one of the extras is "scoring the film"...i'm so glad they decided to put a featurette together for the score, I absolutely loved the score (along with the score from A.I., The Others, and Moulin Rouge)

I do like that they have the academy awards acceptance speeches though. I like that, that's what I want to see with an awards edition. I think they include all four, at least the Best Picture speech.
