View Full Version : Rush Hour 3/4 ??

I just watched Rush Hour 2 for like the zillionth time last night and was wondering if there is any progress with the announced sequals, 3 and 4 ... here is an article (but it is quite outdated)
New Line cochairman Bob Shaye has an exciting idea for the next Rush Hour sequel. "What we would like to do if we could and if we could get economies of scale involved is to actually do a Rush Hour 3 and 4 together and have the third one be a cliffhanger," Shaye said.
The economies of scale to which Shaye refers is that "there are three important but ambitious talent participants who want a lot of money and it undermines the process of making a really good funny movie and a good action movie at a price that we think we can recoup."
Chris Tucker says he would like to see Rush Hour 3 take place in New York. Shaye is open to that. "Chris is obviously an incredibly important part of the production. Even if you set it in New York, it wouldn't all be set in New York. The interiors are going to be elsewhere. There is a budget number that we will do it for and there's a budget number that we won't, because it is a business after all."
Does anybody know anything about this? I really did enjoy the last installment and am awaiting more.. thanks y'all...

tuckers only happy cause he cant land a role in any other film...
the first 2 were slightly enjoyable and funny, but nothing great and I don't feel like seeing 2 of the same things over again...i mean im all for cliche flicks,if they are fun,but I just dont feel like hearing and seeing it around.

hmm... maybe the idea of a 3rd installment wasn't as popular as i thought...

I can't think of any films that Chris Tucker has been in other than the Rush Hour movies, either.
Although the series is great, I don't want the 3rd to be a cliffhanger, for two reasons.
1) It just wouldn't work in a buddy film franchise.
2) Hollywood has pulled this on me before (The Matrix: Reloaded and Back To The Future Part 2) and whilst it didn't spoil the movie, I was made to wait for the next instalment eagerly, (I still am waiting for Revolutions!)
Before I go horrendously off topic, yes- make Rudh Hours 3 and 4, but no cliffhanger, and don't follow the Lethal Weapon path, (Can you really picture Jackie Chan saying "I'm getting too old for this shit!"?)

you probably cant think of any movies he was in because he has yet to land a good role,or act good enough in it for me to want to remember it.

Oh c'mon! You can't say you remembe his Oscar calibur performance in Friday? ;)
Not only Friday, but what about Money Talks, Dead Presidents, and The Fifth Element?

money talks was the only watchable one out of them, the rest were fucking lame as shit...espicially friday, that was fucking atrocious.
Chris Tucker can live for the rest of his life on what he made for the first two Rush Hours, he obviously isn't really that interested in many other projects.

Bring on 3 and 4 together. They are each insured to gain modest (over 125 million) success.

I would watch a 3rd... I don't know about a 4th, though I would be open to it. If they do this right they could go on with it much like the Lethal weapon movies, though Lethal Weapon is better in my opinion. Tucker and Chan are a great partnership for cop action/drama/comedies though. They seem to work well together.

hey, i loved friday :)
but tucker was extremely annoying in fifth element despite the flick itself being decent.
as for a third rush hour flick, i definitely wouldn't mind, since i really enjoyed the second one (got sick of the first one though, it's been played so much on tv...)
but i agree about a fourth one. i think they should just leave it at three, and not do two back to back or anything like that. the rush hour movies are ones i go to to have some fun and enjoy, not to get annoyed that there's a cliffhanger i'll have to wait another six months to find out about or something.

Thank you for all the input.
I too agree I wouldn't like the "cliffhanger" idea.. in a comedy (buddy-buddy or not), I'm not sure good it would work. The closest I can think of were my thoughts on the ending to Austin Powers in Goldmember, in which I would like to see Seth Green vs. Austin/Dr.Evil/Mini-Me, but the last two movies REALLY SUCKED in contrast to RH
Finding out the there is supposedly a 4th installment planned for RH, it makes me think this series is headed for something like Police Academy .. since a trilogy is apparantly not intended for RH.

Personally, I'd rather see another Shanghai Noon/Knights installment before I see a third and fourth Rush Hour.
