This was actually filmed in Scotland (Glasgow I think) but I am not looking forward to it at all. Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman...in a Jet Li movie?! No thank you!

Precisely what I was thinking. It looks like Jet Li may be making a good film for once...But I'll have to wait to see a trailer first to form a real opinion. But it's looking pretty fine to me so far.

please i'm PRAYING this is good...Jet Li hasn't made a great movie in the U.S. since, well, he came to the U.S. He's always been one of my favorite actors (don't laugh at my use of the word actor!) and I really want him to get into better movies. When I first heard of this project, it sounded like shit, but with Freeman and Hoskins in it, and it beingone of the biggest budget French productions, and having Yuen Wo Ping (the ONLY legendary martial arts choreography contrary to what The Musketeer was billing - he did The Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Fist of Legend, and the upcoming Kill Bill to name a few) back on board with Li again, and having Luc Besson doing some of the writing makes me hopeful. (i'm not so much a fan of his proteges) The fact that there seems to be a dramatic side to it also makes me hopeful. AND Li's English has improved significantly from Romeo Must Die to Cradle 2 the Grave so hopefully he'll be able to put more emotion into his speaking, etc.

but look at the images below...it makes me tingle with excitement, that there could indeed be a good dramatic side ala Leon/The Professional to this...

...moments later...

i'm sorry, i'm sorry. i'm getting too excited for this film. This interview summary really has me hoping...(from the Jet Li Homepage):

"To sum up, the movie is in post production right now. According to the director, though there are some fight scenes, it's not gonna be an action movie like his previous movie The transporter. It's gonna be more character driven. There are less guns and fights (I expect a PG13 on this one) and more emotions. One of the scenes he's most proud of is where he made a close shot of Jet crying. The camera closes up and you see a tear falling. He was also very happy to work with fight choreographer Woo Ping. Everybody called him Master on the set. Leterrier was so busy that he let Woo Ping be the second unit director to shoot the fights (Yehaa !!!) Bo Hoskins who is the baddie said he's a real mean bastard in the movie. For Jet, it's his 1st English speaking movie where he was at ease with his lines cause he barely says a few words in it. Leterrier declared working with Jet was like a dream come true. It was as if he was working with Bruce Lee cause Jet is such a legend. There are also some new pics from the movie but sorry guys, no scans cause I was reading the thing at the news agent unless I stole the goddam mag."

...and minutes later :p yet more, this'll be the last:, from the same place again, a report by someone named "Beaver".

Well, we are approaching the half way point of this shoot. March is what we are terming as the FIGHT MONTH. This month, Master Woo Ping is dealing with one fight sequence after another. Some of the more dramatic fighting beats are being shot right now...end sequences, mid story sequences, so on and so forth. The Fight Team is kept quite busy. The styles of the combat, from what I have observed, have been quite grounded and hard core. Very few, and I mean very few, cables had been used. When the cables were used, they were used to assist the movements and the impacts of the action. I saw some of the rough footage and they are quite invigorating. As per classic Woo Ping style, all shots are wide and steady. We SEE everything. Add to it, it's been a long time since Jet and Woo Ping have worked together, we find Jet involved with almost every single shot of combat. It's like a duet. Master is happy that he can create movements for an actor who is capable of doing the movements. And Jet is happy to be involved. A lot of the scenes with Mr. Freeman have already been finished. The focus is now on Mr. Bob Hopskins. I believe we will be returning to Glasgow in April some time.

I've also heard there are scenes that use just one shot for a long time (the fight scenes i mean), and if that's so, that'll be awesome! we can actually see what's happening without teh quick editing that's used so much nowadays. AND it's not wirefu! I really can't wait...This sounded like such a bad idea when i first heard of it, but God it sounds awesome now. and Morgan Freeman talked in an interview briefly about this film and said the story is very involving.
