Ok, I am wondering...are the films from this guy any good? I have heard of him, and was just curious. 6 of the man's films are on Netflix, and I was wondering if they are of any interest. What do you recommend?

Here is what they have:

Alexander Nevsky
Battleship Potemkin
Ivan The Terrible, Pt. 1
Ivan The Terrible, Pt. 2
October
Strike

My 4th grade French tutor was in the process of writing a 20 page paper about The Battleship Potemkin, evidently it was pretty good. I've never seen one of his films, but if nothing else, Battleship is a classic.

Yeah, I saw BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN because it's a definite classic, and it definitely deserves that status, too. I'd give it a 9/10, easy. Haven't seen any of Eisenstein's other stuff, though.

The only one I've seen is Battleship Potemkin, but that was a long time ago; definitely a great classic, though. But I still have yet to see his other stuff.

Alexander Nevsky is a good one to check out. I have the criterion box set of it and Ivan The Terrible 1,2, but havent watched the latter yet

Battleship Potemkin is my favourite. A heartbreaking, beautifully shot film. Apparently, Eisenstein revolutionised the art of editing with this film more than any other filmmaker.

I have also seen Aleksandr Nevsky which is even more beautiful, but sometimes hard to swallow. Let's face it, the movie is blatant propaganda crap. However, it's definitely worth checking out.
