In an exclusive interview with Coming Attractions at Cinescape, FAMILY GUY creator Seth McFarlane told us that the rumor about the possible return of his TV show is about to become a reality. A deal is imminent for McFarlane to continue creating new animated adventures of Quahog's nuttiest, funniest dysfunctional family, the Griffins.

"It's all come down to the budget right now. We're hashing it out," McFarlane tells CA. "It would be a direct-to-DVD project."

While the feature length FAMILY GUY will be developed at Fox, it will be at a different division and not through the company's television arm. And as for when we might be able to see new FAMILY GUY goodness:

"Timeframe, you're probably looking at a year, a year-and-a-half down the line. It will take a while to make. If we could do it within a year it would be very exciting."

With tremendous sales of the first DVD volume of FAMILY GUY (the second set goes on sale starting next week) and ratings on Cartoon Network climbing high, McFarlane's now-cancelled series is proving to be more popular in its afterlife than it was when it was in active production on Fox. Expect all the TV series cast members to reprise their roles for the movie.

Look for my exclusive 10 questions interview with Seth McFarlane next week here on Cinescape. Find out more about the origins of the show, the developing FAMILY GUY movie and what storyline McFarlane has got in mind for it!

Hell Ya! I cant wait... but i seriously think a Family Guy movie should be a fuckin THEATRICAL RELEASE. It has the following that would make it a hit. Maybe once it is made, the studio heads will say "Fuck thats great" like Disney did with Toy Story 2 (which was originally slated to be direct to video)

A theatrical release would rock..

Just, I think some people would not find the jokes funny...

Peter (to Louis--or however you spell her name): When have we ever had trouble communicating?

*flashback: peter and louis are standing on a grassy hill, overlooking a firey sunset*

Louis: Peter, I love you.

Peter (looks at his watch): Ah, about half-past five.

How could anyone not find that funny?

Woman: Are you telling jokes? I love jokes?
Peter: Okay, then you'll love this one! . . . why do women have boobs?
Woman (glares at Peter)
Peter: So you got something to look at when you're talking to them! (laughs)
Woman (continues to glare)
Peter looks at her, confused, then tries again: So you got something to look at when you're talking to them! (laughs)
Woman (keeps on glaring)
Peter: So you got something to-

Had me on the floor.

Not that it needs saying, but I'm a big fan. I'm eagerly awaiting this.

I"m glad it's coming together, and I'm glad they're making it direct-to-video, since then it could be unrated, and wouldn't need to make any MPAA changes if they do some extremely racy things

Thats awesome news I wish it would go to the theaters I myself would think it make a killing in the boxoffice around early summer movie time like June , but then again Scarface98.9 has a good point if it went to DVD he could go with the unrated version, but either way kickass .

oh yeah by the way .... damn you all !!! - stewie

Family Guy has proven to be the funniest cartoon ever! Several occasions where I laughed in seasons 1, 2, and 3(Some people think season 3 blows, but I actually find it even funnier)

Season 3 had great moments, such as:

The "I had sex with all these fish" thing, followed by someone asking Peter how he does it. "Well first I hang the old worm out there, and they usually go for it...", not to mention Daggermouth and Boom Boom on Nickelodeon!

I could not stop laughing at Kiss saves Santa either!

My fav. episode of all time though is "Let's go to the hop" which features Peter posing as a highschool student.

Back to the movie. IT BETTER COME FAST!:D

Oh yes, life is sweet! The funniest fucking show is finally getting what it deserves. Stupid FOX and their censors and advertisers, etc. It was a sad day when I heard this show was cancelled, but now, with all the hype it's been generating lately, this brings a feeling of hope, a light at the end of the tunnel...*cries*
Easily the most quotable show ever...

Peter: "When did they change the meaning of 'for' 'to from?"
Brian: "They had a meeting about it last night."
Peter:" And why wasn't I informed."
Brian: "They left a note saying it was for you, so you must've thought it was from you, so....you know it's just easier to call you stupid."
