Glad to see that "Monster" hasn't been pushed to 2004...Although it being pushed back would make 2004 THAT MUCH MORE of a year to look forward to, filmwise. Haven't really read too much about this Charlize Theron serial killer flick, but everything Jo has posted, in addition to other sites, makes it seem like something to see, and I would love to see Charlize have a resurgence...Granted...I only really have liked her in "The Italian Job" to this point, but then again I haven't seen her "collected works" to this point. "Monster" looks to be a very interesting true story, and is definitely on my must see list now for 2003...Making these last 4 months of 2003 outrageous in the amount of movies that I want to see.
What do you Schmoes think of Theron's latest, what are your predictions?

Heya Barry. How's Lena? ;)
As you can see by my Av, I'm a fan of the talented sauce-bucket.
As for Monster, well it's not had much publicity in Australia as yet, but we always seem to be mesmerised by American serial-killers, so bums'll reach seats. As for the facts on the case/story, I'm a bit out of the loop. Anyone care to enlighten moi? The fact that she's producing it makes me think this is quite an important movie to make for her, so fingers crossed it's quality.
I'll suggest some of Charlize's work for you to sample..
The Devil's Advocate - puts Keanu to shame, and delivers a top performance, in an over-the-top film.
The Cider House Rules - a must. Well produced film.
The Legend of Bagger Vance - pretentious film, but her saucy Southern accent (rrrrrr!) and fine performance make it watchable.
Sweet November - Keanu's not that bad in this, but she steals the show. Real chick-flick tear-jerker.
The Italian Job - she's decent in this - love her hair - and there's something arousing about her driving that mini. I think I need help.
Not seen any of her others, but Waking Up In Reno is on the list.

Well, technically it IS 'Theron's Movie', but me - I'm in it for Ricci!
This is not only because she's naked - which, to me, is a dream come true (sorry, I'm a guy I can't help it) - but I love to see her movie choices. She has a most insteresting flavor to the kinds of movies she chooses to star in. Although I may not like everything she's in, it's fun to see them because they aren't the most typical Day at the Movies.
To me, Theron is just a chick who works hard, does her thing and picks up her paycheck. She's ubiquitous. We could do a LOT worse off with other actresses being in every other movie every year than her, but still... I never see a movie because she's in it.
Considering that Monster is an upcoming movie, shouldn't this be in the UPCOMING MOVIE TALK section?

This probably should be in Upcoming...But this is related to news on JoBlo's front page, so perhaps not. It's for a moderator to decide.
