ok i have heard a few songs by this band now, read a few interviews, saw the video's and i just find the whole thing really false and very cheesy.
whilst i know they are supposed to be quite retro it looks like they have taken all the thing's we laugh about the old 70's rock bands for and pumped it up 200%.
the silly outfits, glam make up,pouting for the camera's,it looks like they have watched the velvet goldmine and this is spinal tap and thought we could do that and make a right few quid.
maybe its just me but i am finding it very hard to take them serious,i have a feeling they will have a short shelf life and be looked on as nothing more than a novelty in a couple of years.
but hey what do i know, anyone else feel the same or i am i the only one with no love for the darkness.

I think they are terrible and people like them cause its trendy to like them. Wow he wears spandex, God he's funny.
A glorified pub band...can you say Mike Flowers Pops!

A weird band, I kinda like their song "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" though. Was flipping through the TV channels the other day, came across a video on Kerrang with their singer in some tight black and white clothing... let's just say that I've avoided Kerrang since ;)

Perhaps some people do like them just because it's trendy to like them. It's likely. However, you could level that inconsequential slur at any band that's popular. Me? I like 'em because they can bang out addictive little pop songs like nobody's business. I can understand why people don't like them.
Mike Flowers Pops? C'mon, please.

I think they're FAN-BLEEDIN'-TASTIC!
They're putting the FUN back into the industry in my eyes.
Radiohead, Coldplay, Starsailor and their ilk are fine and dandy, don't get me wrong...but we NEED bands that RAWK yer SOCKS, and 'The Darkness' do it in style.
They're obviously big fans of 'The Tap', Queen...and anything PRECIOUS METAL, but that doesn't take anything away from the fact that they're filling a huge gaping VOID at this very moment in time.
Camp stuff, no doubt about it...but the tunes get me hook, line and sinker...and JESUS, Justin can belt out a tune.
It might be 'trendy' to dig these lads right now...if so, I'm quite happy to shuffle along like a sheep and dig out my spandex and Springsteen stylee head-band and give the ol' thumbs up.
Bollocks to it...everything about them appeals to me...their name, their tongue-in-cheek approach to the music...the fashions...SUPERB tunes...and the fact that they truly give their all when performing.
As for the Mike Flowers Pops comparison...hmmmm, I can't say I'm 'down with that'...AND I can only PRAY for a band like this to turn up at my local boozer!!!
