new Shawshank Redemption anytime soon?

Is there any talks of releasing a special ed. of The Shawshank Redemption? Because right now its definately a case of great movie, bad dvd.

I hear it will be a 2 disc set sometime next year for the 10th anniversary. I also hear it will be preceded (In the US anyway) with a theatrical re-rleease.

The Shawshank Redemption should have been a serious contender for a Criterion Collection release.

If for nothing else than to illustrate Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman at the top of their respective games.

Good call Donnie,....if Armageddon can get a criterion then surely The Shawshank Redemption should qualify,...if not then it definetely should be a special edition soon.I have held back buying the bargain basement crap edition in hope of a superior re-release..

Yeah. Last I heard it was still planned. It will be huge, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure I'm one of MILLIONS and MILLIONS that regret not having caught this in the theater the first time.

I'm definetly down with seeing this one the big screen.....Love shawshank haven't bought the dvd in hopes of a special just as some people have stated....Then again I said the same about goodfellas and I bought that..Dig it.
