Most effective rape scenes

When I say effective, I mean rape scenes that succeed in shocking the audience so that the words "thrilling" or "great" are the last words used to describe them.
Films like Deliverance, The Accused, & Boys Don't Cry succeed in doing this.
I also want to give special mention to Chinatown because, while the audience never sees the rape in question in that film, the film definitely shows the reprecussions of it.

The film that does the worst job of doing this is Last House on the Left. Both the rape scenes in that film & the characters' reactions to them are completely devoid of any emotion.

The rape scenes in BOYS DON'T CRY were some of the most disturbing rape scenes I have ever seen on screen, but yet also succeeds, in a way, to be effective and really powerful.

The one from Irreversible. It's a cliche to say it, but its true, the rape scene almost makes me cry.

What about Frenzy. Shows Hitchock can be seriously disturbed if he wants. Its decades old but defintely one of the most disturbing rape scenes I ahve ever seen. How he got away with it I have no idea

Can you say....I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE. That rape scene lasted at least a half hour, and it showed everything. In fact the girl was raped more than once, in several different instances. Very disturbing.

The rape scene in Strawdogs was also pretty intense. Especially for the year it was filmed. I believe it was banned in the UK for a few years

The one in Boys Don't Cry was really disturbing and effective. I also thought the one in If I Die Before I Wake was really disturbing, even though it doesn't show too much, just the thought of it was disturbing.

And even though I haven't seen it yet, the one in I Spit On Your Grave sounds really disturbing. I'm sure it's probably one of the most disturbing ones out there.

the one in straw dogs made my eyes water and i couldn't sit through irreversible, i did like the film though.

i think the most disgraceful rape scene was in showgirls, which shouldn't even had been in the film!

Though Irreversible's rape scene was the most brutal and realistic I've ever seen, the rape in Baise Moi was the most graphic.

The one in American History X was really disturbing and I cant even watch it. When I first saw Pulp Fiction and the scene when Butch kicks the door open and you see Zed...umm...standing behind Marcellus I was just like 'OH GOD!' and laughed when Marcellus shot Zed in the nuts.
