Wow. This is a slick flick! I am very surprised at the coolness of this movie. It has that slightly Ocean's 11 feel, but slicker in a certain way. Definitely rent or pick this up come Tuesday.
The movie. One word sums up this film for me. Lighting! If you want to see a full range of colors in lighting, and see it done well...see Con Fidence. The colors just stand out throughout the movie. This film has a (let's do someting different) feel to it. The story is well put together and is thankfully a new take on grifters. Acting is excellent by everyone even Hoffman The soundtrack is a lot of jazzy drum beats and I like the close with Clocks by Coldplay. Nice twists in the movie as well. Another note. This has some of that cool composition from Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also a very cool use of wipes for those aspiring filmmakers out there.
The DVD. The menu keeps in style with the film keeping the corresponding color with the character. As mentioned earlier, the transfer is solid, the sound is good. There are three commentaries to choose from here. An IFC anatomy of a scene which is usually interesting. Lastly, the deleted scenes, which aren't too many, I found to be very funny. It's mainly several takes of Hoffman examining stripper's tits over and over. Very funny!
On a final note, Rachel Weisz could not be any hotter in this movie! See it.
