Does Paramount have any plans of releasing one? I used to own the Nightmare on Elm Street set. It was a great box set that is actually worth the $100.

Should I just start buying the 13th films singularly?

Don't buy the F13 movies right now, the Special Editions and a likely Boxset will be coming out soon.

I only way i'd pay money for this box set is if all and i mean all the films are released in their totally uncut and uncensored form. The MPAA slashed these films up worse then any horror villian could slash up horny teenagers.

As far as I've heard yes a boxset is in the works & yes they are trying to find the uncut versions. Paramount has said that they will try to bring it out by late 2004.

Well put. Also, Paramount better not skip out on the extras either. The last time I checked, subtitles and chapter selections were NOT SPECIAL FEATURES! Jeez, and just sticking a trailer on the disk isn't really worth it either. Give me commentaries, documentaries and deleted scenes, fer cryin' out loud, and they better be a helluva lot better quality than the Godfather supplements, which were nice, but weren't remastered AT ALL. Paramount seems to be learning how to make DVDs now. Hopefully they stop taking the same DVD workshops as Warner did and put out some truly awesome disks for this series.

This is from DVDfile...

Rounding out today's news is the latest news from Camp Blood, er, the happy home of Jason Voorhees. At a special screening of the original Friday the 13th at Maniafest this past Friday, Paramount Home Entertainment representatives were on hand to officially announce an upcoming box set of the first eight Friday flicks. Details remain sketchy, but fans asking for uncut versions of the flicks may be in luck - Paramount is hard at work trying to locate the missing footage needed to reconstitute new cuts of the films. The set is currently due for release in the fourth quarter of next year, and Paramount is also considering releasing on DVD the Jason-less but fairly popular Friday the 13th television series that ran for three seasons in syndication in the late 80's. Watch this space for further updates.

Awesome news. I dont know whats wrong with me. I watch each of these movies and think they are either merely ok or I get pissed because of how much they are cut. Then afterwards I think back on them realise they were fun movies.

Thanks for the update. I'll save and wait for the box set.

Only 1-8? Which films will I be missing?

Jason goes to hell, and Jason X will be missing, but Jason X already has a killer dvd. I suggest picking it up, only $14.99 at best buy. I will definately be picking up the box set when it comes out, I can't find half of the single movies anyway.

Ya Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X, those are Parts 9 and 10 which New Line Cinema owns. Jason Goes to Hell is already uncut and gory as hell.

Paramount really needs to get in gear with this box set. New Line knew what they were doing putting together the Nightmare series in a set with cool as all hell box art. Paramount needs to stop messing around and give us, the fans, a set that we can be proud of and won't cost too much money. I want my Friday The 13th.

They won't as F VS. J will make money by itself. Maybe in a few years they'll package them together.

I would think that after they release F13 1-8, which I guess is as far as Paramount went, they'll release the New Line F13 movies (which, I heard, aren't called Friday the 13th Parts IX and X because New Line got the rights for the character, but not the title, lol) in another boxset, which might even include Freddy vs. Jason, since there probably won't be any more Freddy movies and I don't see them repackaging the Nightmare series to add that one film.

Still, you have to understand that Paramount owns 1-8 and New Line has 9+ so they will never be packaged together unless Paramount (who is subborn) sells em.
