If you live in Austin (Texas), Bloomington (Illinois), Charleston (South Carolina) or Kansas City (Missouri), you might notice a new DVD offering today. Disney officially launched their test of the new DVD format that becomes inoperable 48 hours after it makes contact with air.
Disney is offering their new product in non-traditional establishments such as drug stores, gas stations and toy stores. As an alternative to rental, the discs retail for $6.99, do not have to be returned, but will not be playable after the initial 48 hour window.
The new technology utilizes an oxidation process that will not damage the DVD player or other DVDs in your collection.
