Well tonight after a long ass day at work I was unwinding smoking my much anticpiated night time reds while listening to a little tom waits and it dawned on me. Some music is just perfect to sit back, kick off the shoes and enjoy with a cigarette. So I decided to start this random topic to hear from from the other schmoes as to what their favorite artists are to listen to while unwinding with their favorite brand.
My faves:
Tom Waits
Leonard Cohen
Grandaddy
Nick Cave
John lee Hooker
Lou Reed (Berlin for the most part)
James Brown
Ledbelly
And The Dirty Three
I find myself putting these on more than my others while taking my recovery time at night out back. What are some of your faves that go along with the addiction?

Leonard Cohen makes me wanna smoke.. although, a stiff pack of DuMaurier regs can pretty much be enjoyed with any of the beety folk classics.
Serge Gainsbourg, that lovable piece of euro trash, is good with a smoke, too.

TOP suggestions thus far.
Serge Gainsbourg and Tom Waits are the perfect accompaniment for a fag and a swift gin or two.
Burt Bacharach is good also...The Look of Love, Wives and Lovers with a laidback tab and I feel kinda claaaaaassy.
I'm a bit of a pussy these days mind...I just can't handle a full-strength ciggie...poncey silk cut all the way!!!
The SHAME.

I'm unsure if we should be promoting such behaviour.
Smoking is not cool kids, although Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen are period. Although god knows how anyone could like "First we take manhattan". Perhaps the sound of one's own lungs being finely sliced and then thrown in a bin would be best.

I hardly doubt a harmless wee topic is going to encourage a non-smoker to spark up and start tabbing it like a chimp in a laboratory!
Who's promoting?
I don't see a notice proclaiming free cancer-sticks and a novelty-shaped ashtray with every post! I'm slightly bewildered...and unless Ms. Hall has suddenly become a 30-a-day bird with a hacking cough I do believe your post is a bit overzealous.

I don't smoke, but if I did, I'd like to smoke while listening to Jimi Hendrix.

Overzealous? Me? Never.
No, it's just both my parents died of lung cancer.
Wait, no they didn't, that's them down stairs.
I believe, as slight as it may seem in real world term, your role as moderator has some influence. Cigarette smoking is an outdated practice anyhow, so your right, this post matters little. However, it is a matter of principle.
But we're here to talk about music, so Elvis Costello's "When I was cruel" does sound like cigarette music.

Ha-hah! Apart from 'Lady Version, we are arresting you for being under the INFLUENCE' that must be the only time that that word has been used in connection with out esteemed, and slightly addled, moderator. ;)
