what does everyone think of Eminem's newest protege?
i just listened to his new album 'Cheers to Obie Trice' and its off the hook, Dr Dre and Eminem are really creating a sick empire with Shady records.
Anyone like this guy?

I've been a fan of Obie for a few years now, ever since I heard "Well Known Asshole" and when he got signed to Shady/Aftermath I thought great. But when fiddy got signed Obie's solo project hit the back burner, which was disappointing.
Any standout tracks to look out for? I'll definitely be buying the LP.

i know what you mean, Shady records i guess was expecting bigger things from 50 cent, even tho Obie's pretty much just as talented. What's even worse is Proof of D-12 was also supposed to get his record out this year, but since 50 came into the picture, Obie's got pushed back, so did Proof's
I've only gotten through the cd about twice, so i can't judge it yet, but the outro with d-12 and eminem probly has the best verses, including eminems crazy verse.
Its a solid cd tho, pure shady beats, its worth a check.

yeah obie's new release "cheers" ain't all that bad i listened to it without high expectations and i guess i was a little surprised, he is a lot better than 50 cent, who imo isn't that talented at all as a rapper and quite frankly am fuckin sick of people comparing him to 2pac and yes it does happen those two shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. but you guys are right bout Eminem and Dre at shady, aftermath in like a couple of years i wouldn't be suprised to see that label going down the same road as roc-a-fella and being fuckin huge, granted everyone stays alive and keeps makin GOOD music.

Yeah I like Proof when he emcees properly instead of that low growling thing he does. More than just a hype man.

I got the Obie Trice album on Tuesday when it finally came out. Sadly, I did not get the gold ticket like I was hoping. But, I was very happy with the CD. I think it's better than 50 Cent's first record from Shady/Aftermath. He's not rapping about the same thing over and over like 50 does. O-Trice's beats are better (Eminem is really coming around in the production game). I became a Obie fan when he was signed to Shady/Aftermath because I know that Eminem has an eye for talent and Trice defintly has it. I saw Obie live this past summer at Rock The Mic Fest and did a couple songs in 10 mintues and was quite good, I hope to see a full show of his soon!
Shady/Aftermath ain't gonna be nothin' afta that...
