I haven't seen many independent movies, due to the fact that most of our theatres don't get them, but....
Dirty Pretty Things - 8/10
Cabin Fever - 7/10
T3: Rise of the Machines - 8/10

American Splendor (9/10)
Also my favorite movie this year so far. Most indie movies don't open near me though, so it doesn't have much competition. I'm seeing The Secret Lives of Dentists this weekend, and I'm waiting impatiently for Lost in Translation to open up.

Sorry to sound like a dumbass, but T3: Rise of the Machines is an independent movie? I don't doubt it, but man, if it's true, that's a fucking expensive independent movie!!!!

Yup, a fucking expensive independent movie. Warner Brothers released it, but it as made as an independent film. That is why the movie turned out as good as it was (IMO, of course)... the director had complete control over the project instead of some stupid Hollywood studio telling him what to do.

I guess I have no clue what makes a movie an "independent movie"... but before I read this thread, I was going to say:
Holy Land
and
American Splendor

So far, American Splendor (8.5/10). But I also loved The Swimming Pool (8/10).

If T3 is considered an indie film then:
1. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
2. Dirty Pretty Things
3. Bend it Like Beckham
4. 28 Days Later
5. Phone Booth
I think those are all the indie films I've seen though I could be wrong. There are all kinds of definitions of what is an Independent film thus there could be other movies that I am not aware with that is an indie flick.

The more specific reason, and sorry I did not clarify this before, as to why T3 is independent, is because it was made with individual producers/backers and a director without being owned by a studio. It was made on their own time and money, and then sold to a studio afterwards. So henceforth, it is an indie film. If anyone has anything else to add to this explanation, be my guest.
I would also like to add Confidence to my list of favorite indie films. I forgot to mention that one.
And I am dying to see Thirteen, American Splendor, and Lost in Translation.

Are you sure Confidence is a indie film? Becuase I looked it up at IMDB to see if it was in the genre section. It has independent-film for T3 but not for Confidence.
If Confidence does count then I'm going to have to revise my list.

Actually, I'm not sure. I just always thought it was because Lions Gate released it. Hmm... I'd like to look in to this.
