So what do you guys think?
I think it`s pretty damn good so far. I definetly love the first three songs ("The Package", "Weak and Powerless", and "The Noose"). The rest is kinda still growing on me.
"The Outsider" seems like this album`s "Judith". In other words, the most Tool-like song. It`s not great (not as good as "Judith") but still pretty good.

Basically it`s the same kind of vibe as the first album, but the production is better, less bombastic than the first one.
Also there are a lot less heavy guitars in this one. In fact I think only three songs ("The Package", "The Outsider", and "Pet") have heavy guitars.
"Pet" seems to be about Maynard`s son. And "The Outsider" seems to be about someone who`s a "drama queen" and keeps threatening to kill herself. Lord knows I`ve known a few "drama queens" like that myself.

One thing that`s weird: the CD booklet claims that James Iha (guitarist from Smashing Pumpkins) is now in the band. But I don`t hear anything on the album that sounds distinctly Iha.

Oh and FYI, the other new member of the band, Jeordie White, was formerly Twiggy Rameriz from Marilyn Manson.
He replaces Paz (the dark-haired chick), who went to Billy Corgan`s new band Zwan.

James did not join APC until after the recording of the album was complete. I think he replaced Danny Lohner (NIN) as far as I know.

I really like this album. "The Patient" and "Weak and Powerless" are great songs, even though I've drilled WaP into my head week after week with the song on their site, and the remix on the Underworld soundtrack. All the songs have a great sound to them, especially "The Nurse Who Loved Me." It's such a different sound than the rest. My girl listened to it and wondered where the guitars were. lol. Overall, a great album.

Um... overall I'd give it 7/10

There are some really, really strong tracks on this album, in particular "The Package", "The Outsider", & "Pet." "The Nurse who Loved Me" is also a big departure from most of APC's stuff, but it really works thanks to Maynard's astounding vocals. However, other than the above tracks in addition to "weak and Powerless" many songs on this album didn't do much for me, probably because I'm drawn to more aggressive, rocking tracks than I am to more soothing, mellow tracks, of which this album has no shortage of. Still, it took the first APC album to really grow on me, so I assume this album will do the same.

You guys, "The Nurse Who Loved Me" is a cover. The original version was by a band called Failure. Great unknown band that are no longer together. The guys from Failure were/are friends with Maynard and Tool.
Members of Tool and Failure (including Maynard and Tool`s original bassist Paul D'Amour) made the 'Replicants' cover band together.

I suggest you all check out Failure - try "Fantastic Planet", the album that "The Nurse Who Loved Me" was on. It`s great!
